Review summary

We had 14 family members. Ages 2 to 84. Was a great time but was like herding cats at times. :) We will do it again!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We all did well and the staff at the Port of Galveston were friendly, smiling, and supportive. We had my 84 year old mother-n-law with us and she did well also. A few of the staff members were a bit impatient with her. This was partially due to hearing the staff speak due to loud back-ground noise. Otherwise, all good!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was good for the most part. Some of the items on the buffet could have been warmer. I have one comment about some of the management staff in the buffet areas. They would correct, reprimand, and sometimes yell out an employees name to get attention. It is a good thing I was not reporting to that supervisor as they would have been one less server or employee at the next port. I felt this was rude and embarrassing for the employee and also unprofessional of the cruise line management.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Swimming with the grand children ranging from 2 years old to 7 was a blast. Especially the slide. Some of the events that took place such as the ice carving could have been managed. The person or lady who was the announcer during the ice scupturing seemed to have a hard time managing the kids. The audience also had to bring to her attention to have the first couple of rows sit down or kneel so others could see the event.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
All shows were top notch. Had some AV issues but the director quickly remedied. It seemed that there were less shows than our last cruise in 2012.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
Seemed to be well organized and at least two of the children enjoyed. We were and remain a bit disappointed regarding the events around our 2-year old grand-daughter. She was shy ~14 days of being 2-years old. The attendants said that she could not be left in the Camp Ocean area becuase she wasn't 2-years old yet. They made an exception for a couple of hours but really?

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The waiters we had in the "fine" dining were absolutely excellent! They were understanding of the wide age differences we had at our table. Age 2 to 84. I believe the key waiter was Norbert. He was a joy and should be commneded for his superior service. The rest of his team was excellent as well.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Overall, the ship was kept clean and well laid out. However, we were located on the 8th floor (8408 and 8412). The noise from the staff moving carts, chairs, etc. through the night was a bit annoying.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was comfortable and kept clean by the attendee.

Ship tip

It is a party cruise line. However, adults had some places to hide if necessary. Some areas were not the easiest to access without using stairs.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

Cozumel, Mexico

We did an excursion to a resort. Beach was still very crowded and for the money, we shold have been provided chairs, lounges, etc.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
All was fine. The Texas Alcohol folks were less than friendly.

I don’t think that the lady doing the announcement for the ice carving should be managing the kids, they have parents. Also the people up in the front she be more courteous to the ones in the back. Where are our manners. We are all on vacation, are we not? Have fun but think of other also. They paid a good penny to enjoy the cruise.
