Review summary

We weren't even sure if we'd be able to sail following Hurricane Matthew (and felt a little guilty celebrating our good fortune with such tremendous loss). Yes we were late leaving Port Canaveral, and big itinerary changes due to ports being closed, but that wasn't going to ruin our vacation! Carnival offered us a pp credit and discount off a future cruise to make up for that. We had an absolute blast on this trip! It was my husbands first cruise, my 9th, so not a great representation due to all the changes for him, but he enjoyed regardless.

The Valor was recently upgraded to the Fun ship2.0 so that made it even better. It does have some dated areas but our balcony cabin (7376) was super clean and what we expected. There's a lot of fun to be had on this ship so definitely explore all areas and decks. The adult Serenity area is super relaxing, quiet and the hammocks are great for a little catnap.

I cannot say enough fantastic things about the staff on this boat! Best overall service I've ever had on a cruise!!

I've seen some negative reviews about this particular sailing due to the itinerary change. Mother Nature happens, it's out of our control. We talked to many Bahamians who suffered a lot of loss. Their spirit in spite of tradegy is something we can all learn from! Hopefully those who were disappointed with this sailing will have better luck next time. For us, it turned out to be a fantastic getaway!

They did the best they could with our change in itinerary, but don't think they were prepared for 2 full days at sea.

Exceptional service on this ship. G, our room steward was amazing and Ezra in the Washington dining room was awesome! Casino staff and all bartenders were a lot of fun!

A lot still closed due to Hurricane Matthew, but the private beach day to Balmoral island was beautiful! Check out the Poop Deck restaurant across from Paradise Island for amazing fresh seafood and conch fritters!

It's great to read a review that understands that the crusie lines have no control over mother nature. I'm happy that you still had a wonderful time despite the itinerary changes.  Sometimes we forget...we're on vacation.  Make the best of it.

Wonderful thank you for thinking of the victims of the storm instead of your own comfort. I feel sorry for those who just want to find fault and forget that hundreds of people died and thousands left homeless but some wanted their cruise and to bad for everyone else. Thanks again for a positive review I'm going on Valor this Saturday.

Thanks for the kind comments on my review. Couldn't agree more about realizing how grateful we all are! :)

So refreshing to read instead of all of the whining.

Read this just made me realized we take so many things for granted and at times we are not truly greatful with what we have and accomplished. Even with the employees on those ships, it breaks my heart that alot of them don't make enough money to give their families a vacation they wish to have. Thx for the post

Wonderful attitude. It's tough to visit those areas/ people with that devastation so fresh...we are so very fortunate and we mustn't forget that
