Review summary

Our cruise took us from Port Canaveral to St Maarten, where we jumped in right behind Hurricane Matthew. Then on to St Kitts and San Juan. Our visit to Grand Turk was cancelled due to the damage there from Matthew, so we had a additional 'fun day at sea' aboard Carnival VALOR. The at sea time and activities are mostly why I cruise in the first place, so this was no disappointment. Due to Matthew two days prior to our return, the US Coast Guard closed Port Canaveral (as with all other East Coast cruise ports) and was then re-opened early afternoon the day or our scheduled return and we arrived only about 7 hours later than originally scheduled. Everything during this cruise was fantastic; The crew, the food, the entertainment, and of course, just being aboard the beautiful Carnival VALOR. Can't wait 'till the next one!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Way too many options to not find something to like!!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Always something to do, from trivia, to theatre shows, to the music. Oh yeah, can't forget the casino! The option of just about any type bar you could want and night clubs for all ages are a plus also.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Fantastic. Glad to see the return of the crew staff shows. Please upgrade Karoke programming and songbooks to give country music a little more respect!

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Seventh cruise, first without the young ones! Past experience has proven Camp Carnival is fantastic for young children to mid teens. The staff are entertainers and child care professionals, not baby sitters!!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Outstanding service . Cheerful and 'ready to serve' crew.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The VALOR is a beautiful ship. Devoid of even minor flaws. The effort to both maintenance and cleanliness is apparent everywhere.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Clean, roomy and comfortable. Could use a additional electrical outlet.

Ship tip

I think I pretty much covered this already above.

Fastest embarcation port of the four I've used in Florida. These folks really have their act together!
