Review summary

We love Carnival cruises and we love the Triumph. It's our first ship and was great to be back on her! From the time we boarded until the time we left the ship, we were well taken care of and had any questions we might have had answered. Jess, the CD, was amazing and super full of energy! The staff overall were awesome and we can't wait to board her again next year!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We left out of New Orleans and were curious how the terminal was compared to Galveston. Galveston can't hold a candle to New Orleans! The way New Orleans was set up, you get dropped off right by the entrance. After showing your passes to security, you go up the escalator and have your picture embarkation souvenir picture taken (as opposed to Galveston where you have quite a walk from the time you drop of your checked in luggage. The picture taking in Galveston is done while you're trying to board the ship). After the pictures, the check in process and getting our S&S cards was a breeze (no pun intended). We had FTTF so we sat in that area which was watched over by a couple of employees and roped off. Didn't understand why at first but after Platinum was let onboard, they went aisle by aisle for FTTF instead of just a mass cattle call like Galveston has. Walked right on the ship. Total time between entering the building and getting on the ship? MAYBE 45 minutes (we checked in at 11:15 BTW).

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We have sailed this class of ship before and although the MDR food was the same menu as before, it was still quite good.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We participated in more activities than usual and had a blast! Jess from the US was our CD and she is now our favorite (with Frankie who is CD on the Valor as a close second).

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The casino band, sing along piano player, main theater show, and burlesque show were all great!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We've been on 3 cruises now and the staff has always been great. From Kotuut who serviced our room to Sheila and Rommel in the MDR, we looked forward to seeing them. Ivana who worked in Pixels was a huge help and we loved her to death!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was spotless and our room equally as spotless. Now that we know our way around, getting to the MDR in the back of the ship was simple. The first cruise we took, was a bit confusing having to go up and down stairs to get to it lol.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was in great shape. Very clean upon arrival and the balcony was equally clean. The toilet worked fine and the shower had excellent pressure. Every evening, Kotuut did a fantastic job cleaning our room and we always enjoy the towel animals.

Ship tip

If you're wanting to start tasting the different foods available on the ship, do so outside of normal mealtime hours. Especially for Guy's Burgers, Blue Iguana, and Chopsticks.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

5 out of 5
This is our favorite embarkation port now!

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We always have a great time in Cozumel. We have done the Passion Island, Chankanaab, and Punta Sur excursions and love them all!

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

5 out of 5
Although some people don't like Progreso, we always look forward to going there. It's just a small and sleepy little fishing town that exmplifies simple Mexican/Yucatan living. The people are always friendly and we have made a couple friends there that we enjoy seeing. We like it so much, we are seriously considering purchasing a house there when we retire. We have done the Chichen Itza, Dzibilchaltun, and Uxmal tours and all were breathtaking.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
From the time we exited the ship to the time we drove away in our car took MAYBE 45 minutes. VERY fast and couldn't believe how much quicker it was than Galveston!

Interesting review. Another Triumph review was posted just before yours. You loved it, they hated it! Just shows that people are so different. Hope your next cruise is just as pleasurable.
