We had a great time and would definitely recommend going on the Triumph. We went on the Carnival Paradise last year and it was not a good experience. Triumph renewed my faith in Carnival. There were a lot of activities to do to keep you busy. I would go on the Triumph again! Loved going out of New Orleans and going down the Mississippi River.
Embarkation

It was a bit hectic, but I can't blame Carnival for this. Due to Hurricane Nate , the Carnival Dream was at port the same day. Normally, it would have been there the day before. They had to bus an entire crew in from Galveston to work that day so it was a bit chaotic. Our biggest complaint was not checking our luggage and no one asking about it. There were people scrambling everywhere so we thought we would check them inside. By the time we asked about it, it was too late and we had to carry it all onboard. We paid for the Faster To The Fun option and first were told that we couldn't get into the rooms until 1:30 p.m. (FTTF allows you immediate room access) After checking, we were able to get in our rooms though. And in hindsight, even though it was hectic, we were glad we had all of our luggage with us because we were all unpacked and enjoying our cruise 4 hours before the ship sailed.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Food and drink quality was fabulous. My only complaint was not being able to do the Dr. Seuss breakfast. This was one of the main reasons we chose this cruise. I had no idea you could book this breakfast early and found out that it was sold out before the ship sailed. And that was after asking several people. No one seemed to know that it was sold out beforehand. That was a bit disappointing, but we survived. If you want to do this, I HIGHLY recommend booking it way in advance. All the other food was great. Pizza was delicious and the buffets were great as well. We ate in the dining room every night and the food was high quality. They had a variety of desserts, but everyone at our table had the Chocolate Melting Cake every night. We just couldn't pass it up because it was THAT good!
Onboard Activities

There are three pools on the Triumph and a nice waterslide. I think there are 2 hot tubs also. I used the fitness center and jogging track every day and they were very nice. Overall, it is a great ship with lots to offer!
Entertainment

We only attended two of the evening shows in the Rome Lounge. We went to the "Big Easy" show which was nice although a bit long. It was just New Orleans type jazz songs. The performers were very talented though. We also went to the magic show and it was excellent. We went to the piano bar and the adult comedy club and enjoyed both of those.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
I can't say enough good things to say about the service and staff. Our cabin steward, Arturo, was excellent. All of our dining room staff (Anita and Rawa) were exceptional. All other staff members I encountered were extremely helpful and courteous.
Ship Quality

Everything was very clean. I constantly saw staff members out sweeping and doing general cleaning. The layout was very nice. It did take a few days to figure out how to get from point A to point B. I highly recommend studying the ship's layout online before boarding because it can be confusing as not all floors go all the way through the ship.
Cabin / Stateroom

We loved our cabin. It was very spacious. There was only two of us, but technically there could have been 4 in the cabin. It had a pull down bed from the ceiling as well as a couch that turned into a bed and two twin beds. The balcony was very nice and there was a lot of storage space in the room.
Ship tip
Definitely study the ship layout before sailing and figure out how to get from your room to various points on the ship (dining room, lounges, lido deck, etc). Also, if you want any specialty dining, book that before boarding the ship.
We just got off the ship to do some shopping. Shopping areas were clean and vendors were very nice. Of course, they tried to sell their goods. They will always bargain with prices so you should always ask for a lower price.
We went to a beach "resort" as an excursion. Although it ended up being nice and there were lots of activities to do, it was not what was pictured in the description. We took a very nice bus to get there, but had to drive through some questionable areas on the way. The "resort" we were supposed to go to was just a beach house. Food was good and the staff was entertaining though. Just not sure if it was worth $80.
Everything went smoothly. We weren't in a rush at all so we waited until our hallway was called. Got off quickly and found our luggage and headed to the bus. No issues with disembarkation. I kind of wish the luggage was a little closer to the end of the line though, but that probably can't be helped.
