Review summary

Yes, we would recommend this cruise to others. It is an older ship so take that into consideration. It could be modernized a bit but with the upgrades it is very nice. There is always something to do, you will never be bored. There is always food, so you will never be hungry. One of our best experiences was with our waitstaff in the upper London dining room. Aysis, I Waynan and Mariana made us feel like family. We are in the dining room every night on our cruise, not just because the food was good but because of them. We would sit in there just talking to them and learning about them and their life. They actually listened to us and remembered things about us that we had told them on previous nights. They are amazing people and we were sad to leave. Hopefully we will be able to see them again next time we cruise. I am a server, and I know how I want to be treated when I go out to eat and they exceeded that.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Aysis, I Waynan & Mariana in the upper London dining room made our dining experience the best. The food in the dining room was great, along with guys burgers, the blue iguana, and the omelette bar.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
They had a whole day of activities planned on the ship if you were looking for something to do.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The comedy club was great, we went in there almost every night for a good laugh.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was super nice and they are all very hard workers.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was very clean, especially for the amount of people that at are on it at one time. There is always workers going around cleaning up after people. It is an older ship so a few things are a little out dated, mainly the cabin rooms but with the upgrades to the ship they are trying.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The only complaint is that it is a little outdated but other than that it was good and our room service attendant sujana kept it very clean everyday.

Ship tip

Some tips for the Carnival Triumph: make sure you bring something for motion sickness, the boat does sway quite a bit. Eat in the dining room for dinner, the food is always better in the dining room than on the buffet. Go to the comedy club, get there 30min early or it's hard to find a seat.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

3 out of 5
We did not have enough time to explore New Orleans but if you go towards the French quarter there is tons to see. We did eat it voodoo BBQ and grill right next to the airport and that was very good.

Cozumel, Mexico

They have a lot of excursions and all inclusive day resorts. We did mr sanchos, they had 2 swim up bars and you got your own table with an umbrella. We had a great time and would definitely go back.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

Not much to do, very run down. Too many people trying to sell you things when you er into down town. The shopping right when you get off the boat is good though. You can always talk them down about half of the price they offer first. Maybe even more.
