Review summary

We had the drink package and determined we would not do it again. We would rather pay as we go. We found it too restrictive. My husband likes to order a shot and a beer at the same time. You can't do that with Cheers. I'd like for one person to have to go to the bar instead of both so we don't lose our seats. We didn't drink enough to make it worth the price. And believe me, it felt like we were constantly drinking. The cleanliness of the ship was impressive. You always saw someone cleaning something. The decor was outdated but it didn't bother me. I never smelt anything unpleasant as reported on other reviews. The dining room food was disappointing every single night. There were 8 of us in our party so we all pretty much ordered different things every night and no one once got anything they really raved about. I'm mainly talking about appetizers and entrees as it's hard to mess up a dessert (although there were a couple of those that were bad). There were two nights I couldn't even eat my entrees. The last night I paid the extra $20 for surf and turf and even that was bad. Steak not cooked to order and the lobster was tough. One of the main things I was looking forward to on the ship was getting to eat all these fantastic dishes that I don't regularly get to try. Everything was just so bland. No salt, no spices, no flavor. I will be choosing a different cruise line for our next cruise.

Cabin / Stateroom

More spacious than anticipated. Comfy bed and pillows. Always kept clean by our awesome room steward.

Ship tip

The cabin doors are magnetic but be sure the magnets are strong. I had several magnets that just would stay put. They would slide all the way down. I had other magnets that were stronger and they stayed put the whole time.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

We loved our excursion (Mi Casa Es Su Casa) but would not have enjoyed Progreso if we didn't have that to do. The port itself is small, it's a long drive down the pier and the town is not a tourist place. A true Mexican city with tiny streets and a dirty feel to it.
