Review summary
Although we enjoy cruising and consider it our number one choice for vacationing, we were overall disappointed in our crusie experience on the Carnival Triumph and have decided that we will not be sailing on Carnvial ships again. We've sailed twice before on the Carnival Ecatasy, where everything seemed nonfunctioning, and now on the Truimph. These are old, tired ships and they needed to updated. The wait and service staff were over all good, a few minior misses. There was a water leak in our room and the corner next to the bathroom was soaked. Maintenance cleaned the carpet and placed a fan in the room to dry the carpet, which means that we had to stay out of the room for the day. The bathroom faucet continued to drip thoroughout the trip. We were given a 10% discount for one day for the inconvenience, I would have preferred a new room because it smelt musty afterwards. Our room was extremely noisey, being located near the show lounge and with heavy traffic and noise in the hallway. The western singer located behind the main bar was very good, althougth extremely loud. Even though we were familiar with the songs, we couldn't understand the words and the music sounded blurry. We enjoyed the art auction and purchase several pieces, but with the singer just above the art gallery, it made the art experience poor, barely was able to complete the purchase process and couldn't wait to excape the galley and its noise. There wasn't enough vairety in entertainment or activities available. We weren't impressed with the 3 shows that we attended, again they were outdated. There's wasn't much to do during the day, unless you were wanted to drink or bake in the sun. The smoke in the casnio was unbearable. The variety of dining facillites and food options were poor. With extremely long lines at the one buffett availlable, we avoided this dining room after the first morning. Snack foods should be available through out the day and we felt pressured to purchae acholhic drinks. I would also suggest an "adult" only area for people trying to relax or read, and more pools/water and activities available for the children. Two large family groups dominated the second/back pool and hot tub areas most of the ship days, making it uncomfortable for others to enjoy.
The shore excursions were very limited. Unless you booked a shore excursion, we weren't really allow to see Cozumel at all. We were in a Carnvial compound with armed security patroling, it was very uncomfortable. Progresso was a waste of time.

Ship tip
The cruise director was annoying. Many of the hand sanitizer dispensers were empty, concerned for overall health of the ship.
