Review summary

We enjoyed our first cruise, and look forward to going again someday. Carnival cruise fits our needs well, and I feel we got a good value for the money we spent.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was great! We enjoyed the buffets, evening dinning, and breakfast and lunch offerings!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We rode the water slides, layed out on the deck in the sun, there was always music playing by the pool. There was a really good classic rock show we went to one evening on the stage. The formal night was fun, taking pictures and having a great meal with friends. Each night dinner in the Sunset diner was a great end to the day. The kids enjoyed the pool and hot tubs for hours every day. They also used the gym several days for some excercise.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Classic rock show was really good on stage. There was music and a DJ by the pool each day. The cruise director Lizzy was always giving updates and announcments, and ending them with her famous, "Cheerio!"

Children's Programs

our kids are teens, didn't do any kids programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All the staff was great! Our room steward called us by name each day, and left towel animals, made our bed, and refreshed our towels each day. The kitchen staff was great with the food, and quick to clean up the tables after everyone finished eating.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was a little older, but well maintained, everything seemed to be in good working order, and clean. A bad design flaw was that there is no way to get to the restaurant at the back of the ship on level 3 and 4 without going up to level 5, or down to level 2 to bypass a club. Also you have to walk through the casino on level 5 to get to the restaurant, or coffee shop, and smoking was allowed in the casino. The smoke was very strong! I know they have to try to please everyone, smokers included, but making everyone walk through the smoky casino to get to dinner, is not a good design.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our cabin was nice enough, we got the cheapest option available, so didn't expect alot, but it was very clean and comfortable, everything was in great shape, nothing broken. The bedding was very comfortable, but our king bed was 2 twins pushed together, so there was a noticeable ditch in the middle where me and the wife always seemed to get stuck. There has to be a fix to that, but otherwise we liked the room. The TV had a channel to track cruise progress, and give location and temp, wind speed. There was a safe in the closet to lock up our valuables. No real complaints about the room other than the ditch in the bed!

Ship tip

Get to the deck early to get a good chair! People grab up the seats near the pool and traffic early to have a seat in the sun and watch the people and big screen tv!

Disembarkation

It was very similar to getting on the ship, to get off, except we didn't have to go through as much security. We carried our own bags off, buses were provided to get us back to parking lot.
