Review summary

Not bad cruise but there was room for a whole lot of improvements.

Embarkation

We arrived earlier than expected and was able to board earlier than expected. The lines went very quickly and the staff at check in and security was very helpful and friendly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Once we logged into the Carnival Hubb app it would tell you what times the buffets would open. They didn’t open until half an hour later. On this ship the buffets would also close earlier then other ships. I do recommend JiJi’s on Lido. Fresh and hot. Don’t let the long detour you. It’s so worth waiting for.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our waiter Walid did a magnificent job at making sure we were well taken care of. He brought our food out in a timely manner. He was very informative about the dishes. Jomel our room steward did a great job of turning our room over everyday. We had 3 rooms booked with the same steward and I would not know who to blame for not delivering certain prepaid items to one of the rooms. Customer service was no help on having the items delivered or refunded. I was working with them since day one on a 5 day cruise. On the Lido deck a few of the staff did not clean the tables but they did make eye contact with the table. This happened when the Lido deck was at it’s busiest. Several times I even took dirty dishes off the table and placed them at the staff station so I could have a place to eat. I noticed that several other people had to do the same thing.

Ship Quality

Gum on the rail while staff was standing right their. Not good. The layout was a bit odd. Having to go up the elevator then walk across the ship just to ride down another elevator to reach another floor????? Layout was not good for those in wheelchairs or with walkers. I’m sorry but the bathrooms in the common areas were so small that one would have to straddle the toilet before closing the door. Common area bathrooms were also not maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was always clean thanks to our steward Jomel. When someone looks at the room photo on Carnivals website, one would think that the bed was pushed up against the wall. They actually had the bed placed to where you could get in bed from either side. Jomel even placed an extra foam on our bed to make it more firm. The shower was bigger then what we had experienced on other ships.

Ship tip

Bring a good pair of walking shoes.

Ports of call

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

75/25 decision. Beautiful island. Extremely soft sand. Staff was friendly and hardworking. Transportation to and from the ship went very smoothly. The down side was many people were looking for a chair and other people were burying cigarettes in the sand.

Charleston, South Carolina

Fast friendly service

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarking went very smooth. I feel everyone did listen on how to disembark. The staff was running the elevators to make sure it was done in a timely manner. Giving directions made getting off easy.
