Review summary

If you like being crammed in with a ton of people you don’t know with kids crying...this is the cruise for you! If you think you’ll relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, find another ship!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
It was ok, very crowded

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Special restaurants are good, drinks are very expensive, buffets are awful

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Difficult to get to anything, very crowded ship! Finding a chair near the pool was difficult.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
They worked very hard to please you

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
It’s an old ship and it shows, the staff clean it but it needs some major work

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The best part was the balcony! The bathroom very small, reminded me of being on a airline! The bed was comfy.

Ship tip

If you have kids, it’s a great ship for you! An adult couple, no!

It's only opinion but if you're going to cruise Carnival then you might want to stay away from Carnival during the Christmas Holiday/NYE, spring break and summer months if you're wanting a cruise with fewer children.

Better luck next cruise

Maybe you shouldn't cruise anymore?

Sounds like you like to complain as they say your vacation is what you make of it

First time cruiser I am guessing. Do your homework next time.

Do not want kids??? DON’T GO ON A HOLIDAY CRUISE!!! Love the Sunshine

Over Halloween we had the opposite experience. Serenity deck and spa area was mostly empty. MDR had no wait. Comedy club was small, but we just went early. Great for a couple, as long as you don't try to do the things geared toward kids. Btw the Halloween party gets bigger every year and is a real hoot.

If you do your research you will see that Sunshine is geared towards children with all the amenities that they have for children, that's why we choose her when we took our grand kids.

Time of the year matters. Definitely kids would be out and traveling around the holidays.

Since the renovation and adding 550 more people on a ship not originally designed for that it definitely shows. Most crowded ship I've ever been on.

My husband and I went on the Sunshine over Christmas and yes there were alot of kids , but it was Christmas time ,there are certain times of the year you will see more children.

Why would someone who does not want to be around children book a cruise during the holidays, which are the busiest times of the year and have the most kids on board? If you don’t like crowds and children on board, cruise while school is in session, or try Crystal, Symphony, Seabourn, Regent Seven Seas or Viking.

Wow, we had quite a different experience a little over a year ago on the Sunshine.
