This was our second cruise on Carnival Sunshine and it did not disappoint! Previously, we sailed with children and grandchildren, which was an experience in itself. This was so much better as we could set our own agenda at our own pace! We thoroughly enjoy the Serenity Deck, as it is larger than on all other ships we have sailed.

Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The Sunrise Restaurant (main dining room) was excellent. The waiters were attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and had variety. The Steakhouse was superb, as you might expect. The Ji Ji Asian restaurant was much better than we expected with excellent service and delicious food, different from anything we have ever eaten on land. The breakfast and lunch buffets were good and provided a varied menu.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The Serenity Deck is better than on any other ship we have sailed on. Many and varied activities throughout the day, especially on sea days!
Entertainment
5 out of 5
According to news reports, among the roughly 6,000 migrants housed at a stadium in Tijuana, only three cases of tuberculosis, four cases of HIV/AIDS, and four cases of chickenpox were confirmed.
The Playlist Productions were superb!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our main dining room waiters - Gennies, Alfredo, and Kriseman were personable and very attentive. Our room steward - Jimi - was excellent, providing us with fresh ice cubes daily to keep our wine and champagne chilled. Mikey, the cruise director was awesome! He was engaging and personable and had an endless amount of energy.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The placement of the Comedy Club in the aft section of the ship made it difficult to get to the main dining room. Other than that, the remainder of the ship was clean and well-maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin had functioning temperature control; the bed was very comfortable; there was sufficient room for two people with very adequate storage. The cabin was always maintained.
Very clean. We did a bus tour of the island which provided us with a great overview of the history and culture of the island. Very knowledgeable tour guide.
Love the very colorful buildings. We did a walking tour of the city, which was informative. Also part of the tour was a drive to Hato Caves, an above-ground system of caves. Very interesting!
Outside of the ship's port area, the island appeared to have many poor sections. We took a bus tour of the island. The "bus" was an open-sided truck which would have been okay, except for the heavy rain storm that followed us around the island.
Once notified of our time to debark, we breezed off the ship and to the luggage hall, retrieved our luggage, sped through customs, and onto our shuttle bus to get back to our car.
I'm glad yuh enjoyed. We were on her last year in June and Mikey was our CD. He was fantastic and had a great time.
It's different when you don't travel with others. It's good you had a fun time.
