Review summary

Great cruise on a ship, Carnival Sunshine, that I looked forward to for many years! First cruise that I have gone on and had less enjoyment, primarily because of the location of our rooms at the back of the ship! I should have gone with my gut instinct and not accepted anything less than a midship room location!

The room was very comfortable but it was located at the very back of the cruise ship. Not only was it noisy at night but we heard all the noises of the motor or cruise mechanics which caused us not to be able to sleep. The first 2 nights I got a headace and the rest of the nights I had to sleep with the TV on to try and drown out the noises of being located at the back of the ship. The experiences were the same for my traveling companions, David Rice in Room 2345 and Sandra Cunning and Linda Roberts in Room 2353.

Ship tip

Don't accept a room at the back of the ship! Too noisy and you won't be able to sleep.

On the Sunshine it seemed the lower you went the worse the vibrations were on stern of the ship. We ate dinner at one of the very rear tables on deck 3...it was wonderful but when leaving port and maneuvering it got quite shaky. We also had cabin 6379....deck 6 middle aft...it was wonderful!! The view was amazing, the extended balcony was great and compared to dinner, 3 decks directly below us, the vibrations weren’t bothersome at all.

RonitaN - I too was Navy 'Nuke' long time ago. Hope he keeps at it. Very good money once his enlistment is over. Thanks for YOUR USAF service too! I love the Princess military program.

GIL155....Thank you for your service! My son is currently in Charleston in A school, Nuke program.....I am a USAF Veteran myself. I really like the way they have amped up the Vets program on the ships the past two years I have cruised... Previous to that it was just a 30 minute " meet and greet" in the library.

Oh, don't say that. We are booked in 6336.. Now I'm nervous.

I too always book aft balcony. Love the wake views. Private. Quiet. Usually only feel the ship's thrusters when docking. As ex-navy, love the aft views, and the feel of the engines.

We once had balcony on the back of the Glory on deck 8.... It was fantastic!!!! A few steps from all the food.... Amazing sunsets and sunrises....we like the back of the ship!

we like seeing where we are going, not where we have been.

stern cabins aren't that bad. Had one on one of my cruises. Smooth sailing. A little noise from engines but bearable

is there a lot of motion in the cabins in the back of the ship?
