Review summary

This is a refurbished ship, so you have to take that into account when you consider things like cabins, amenities, etc. Overall, this is a solid ship, and this itinerary is very good. The best part of the ship is probably the Children's Water Works play area on Decks 11-12. It is really great. The worst parts of the ship are the main lounge and the evening shows/entertainment. The main lounge looks like it is from the 70's, with weird lighting, poor seating, and it always feels ridiculously cold in there.

Main dining room was above average. The lunch options were great -- Burger Joint, Pizza, Pasta Bar, Mongolian Grill, Mexican -- all very good. the buffet is a little smaller than on some other ships, but the quality was very good overall. Salad bar at the buffet was very small though -- only real complaint.

Worst evening shows of any cruise I have ever taken. Truly horrible. The main lounge looks like it is from the 70's with bad lighting, bad seating, and it is FREEZING.

Okay for a refurbished ship. We refurbished ships there are always design flaws/inconveniences.

Ship tip

Lunch is the best meal, by far. Guy's Burger joint, the Mongolian Grill, the Pasta Bar, the Pizza Bar and the Blue Iguana Cantina were all really excellent.

Thank you for posting your review. We enjoyed Guy's burgers, especially after seeing one of the table maps that included our then-hometown.

I have yet to sale on the ship but I am looking forward to doing so in the near future. I was sorry to read that the main lounge and the shows were not up to your expectations. Thanks for posting.

The time we sailed on the Sunshine in 2014 the food in the main dining room was good but service was so darn slow. we missed all the shows even the comedy because of this and probably also the timing of the shows was not good. We thought the ship was nice but these 2 things were annoying.
