Review summary

It was a good trip for the most part for me except once I got home, I tested positive for Covid. Writing this review from ER room to pass time. Probably should have worn mask the whole time, but didn't because I didn't want to be the single person wearing mask on the ship. You gotta do what's best for you and not worry about what others say- So, it was a learning even at 78 yrs, you always learn even if you are old.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Great, purple were nice, was in the ship by 11.30am

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Main dining was great! But Lido deck buffet line was too long, the worse part was their lemonades- too sweet, had to dilute down; ice tea was unsweetened but they didn't label it as such. Really wanted to eat at the taco bar bar but it was closed everytime we walked by- they should post the hours.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Rope courses were great, water slides.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
One show was great, there was one with American Idol contestant, she sang nice but it could have been paired with some dancing. The club music was kinda mellow, not very up beat house or techno or Trans music, but was not bad.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff were great for the most part, some looked tired.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Cleanliness was better than my last Carnival cruise. Some kids were throwing ice on the floor, had to ask them nicely not to do that as it increase slip & fall risk for folks... and surprisingly one young fella fell right in front of them and they ran away. Security guys seem to be pretty active at night.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The wheel chair barely fits on either side of the bed, but it did fit. The main issue was with bathroom door sensor, it was too sensitive and would not close if the shower curtain was on the left side or a bottle was kept on the table. The annoying part was folks would leave their strollers on the hallway and we had to keep moving them everytime.

Ship tip

Travel light, so debarkation process is easier and don't have to stress out about packing the night before.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

3 out of 5
Not much to do as handicapped person during embarkation day.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Down town Shops were on walking distance, there were shops in enclosed area too but the nice part of the area needs a taxi

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

3 out of 5
It was difficult one for a wheelchair person, mostly sand even to get off the pier. But it's great for able persons. The boat ride to the pier was fun on a wheelchair but stressful. Should have stayed on ship.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Great place, took the jeep tour. Wish had more time at the pit stops.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Was stressful to get ready and leave by 8.30am for handicapped person. Tried to finish breakfast on time but they didn't have any omlette stations. Some kids spilled drinks on my pants and didn't have a way to change.

He says he is 78. Older folks have weaker immune systems, and some don't survive covid. I came back from my January cruise with covid but am not that old. I did not expose my 91 year old mother to it. Most people can handle it tho.

I'm so sorry you got sick. All we can do is look out for ourselves taking precautions. Where a mask by all means. In the 'its all about me' society we are in, we aren't working as a team. Covid is more than a cold or flu to those who have had it or lost a loved one. Glad overall cruise went well. Good wishes for speedy recovery, and like me, wear your mask in good health.

So glad you had a good time. Sorry you got sick . Glad to see someone take personal responsibility instead of blaming others. If you feel you should mask up by all means do so. Get Well Soon !

Hope you feel better soon. By chance did you not have an accessible stateroom? Thank you for your review.

Just curious, it’s 2024. Why wear a mask for Covid in 2024? It’s a cold virus and will never go away, it’s here to stay for eternity. A mask for the rest of our lives?
