Review summary

Like all cruising, it will be what you make it. I had a great time. Since this was the first cruise since cruising resumed, I went in with an open mind. I was not disappointed.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This is the fastest embarkation process ever. I hope that they will keep this process after cruising returns to "normal".

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Had dinner at the Steakhouse, the food was great as always. Tons of options between the main dining room and various restaurants. Sometimes the quality was a little off, but overall things were good. I have to note that the staff worked really hard to keep items stocked and the various facilities clean. The crew at the Steakhouse were just great.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I enjoyed trivia and karaoke. The magic show was fun. The dance club was a little crowded for my taste but it still had a good time. There was always something to do.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Vintage Pop program was a little different for my taste, but the Playlist Players were amazing in that show. The magic show with Azar was funny and DJ OJ was great.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I can't speak highly enough of the staff. The Sunrise crew was simply awesome. They're working hard to keep the ships clean and keep everyone as happy as possible.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Sunrise is showing her age on the outside. But that wasn't a deal breaker in the least. I'm not a fan of the layout of Sunrise. As a non-smoker I absolutely hated walking through the Casino to get to various venues. Also I found the Steakhouse to be in a slightly weird location. The staff worked hard to keep that place clean and sanitized. I honestly cannot recall a time that I didn't see someone somewhere wiping common areas down.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin layout was a little weird to me. The bed was right next to the balcony window and it was almost impossible to exit the bed on that side. I was disappointed that the fridge had been removed and replaced with a cooler. (The cooler didn't keep anything cool.) However, the cabin was clean and even though the room was located under the the Blue Iguana, very rarely heard any noise from above.

Ship tip

My advice for the Sunrise, beware the layout is a little wonky. So make sure you familiarize yourself with the locations of your favorite venues. Other than that relax and enjoy, you're on a cruise.

Ports of call

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

Did the bike tour at HMC. The bikes were a little worn but all in all it was a decent little excursion. Learned a lot from our guide.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
I couldn't believe how quickly we were able to complete the disembarkation process. Again, I hope this is another practice that becomes the norm. Access to the elevators remains an issue, but that was the only issue in the entire process.
