Review summary

I am not a party person anymore so the experience might have been better on a different ship. In other words if you want to party Carnival Splendor is the ship for you! With that being said I did REALLY REALLY enjoy it for my first cruise and fully intend to go again and again God willing!!

Embarkation

3 out of 5
My mother and I required wheelchair assistance and this part of the trip needed some work.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was the best! I got to try a lot of new items I have never eaten before. Even had the chance to try Escargot but I passed on that one LOL.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I won two trophies for trivia and even sang Karaoke!

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Although there weren't the shows like I seen on tv cruises the many musicians and bands were great!

Children's Programs

No children onboard

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our steward Eddy was excellent and really loved our waiter for late night dining Elder!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
It was smaller than I anticipated and a bit painful for my Sister who had to climb up to bunk. But all in all it served the purpose because who goes on a cruise to stay in the room? LOL

Ship tip

It was a great experience, however, if you have special needs it is probably not the boat to sail on.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Disembarkation

There are many cruise lines to try a little more laid back. Since you are just starting, now is the time to try at least one other cruise line. See which seems to fit you the best. You could possible end up right where you started. Good luck on your next cruise.

My first cruise is in 19 days on the splendor. For a first time cruiser how much extra money would you suggest I bring?
