Review summary

From the moment we started the embarkation to the last wave as we pulled out of the parking lot at the end of the trip the experience exceeded our expectations. The beautiful lines of the ship with its trademark "fin" to the well appointed balcony rooms on the spa level we were "wowed". We had spa rooms so we had unlimited use of the steam rooms and the thala therapy pool which we took full use of. The staff was professional and always available. The satisfied looks on the passengers' faces as they left their massages said it all. The dining room (Black Pearl) although oddly decorated with as one teen noted "fried eggs on the ceiling" didn't detract as much as facinate us. The roof over the pool was a huge bonus as our trip had been diverted to Canada (instead of Mexico). The cool weather was never a factor due to the roof (limited use of the slide though). My teens (age 13, 15 and 19) had a blast. They loved the teen clubs and activities. They stayed up late, slept in and I never heard any of them say "I'm bored". All of us are looking forward to our next trip.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Easy to find something to eat at all hours.... we almost missed one of the dining areas tucked away in the back of the ship.... the teens loved the pizza. Food in the dining room was prompt, hot and the staff in the Black Pearl pleasant and entertaining.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
I liked it...but I'm 51. My teens were bored with the "musical reviews".... The activities were varied. We didn't go on any of the shore excursions....we had already been to Victoria and Vancouver...and there wasn't much to do in Astoria so we walked to town and back.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
The 13 and 15 year olds had a blast....None feel off the ship and both want to go on another cruise.... guess that makes it a success!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
our wait staff, room stewards were always polite, considerate and accommendating.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Only negative was the pink...pink....and more pink.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Ok, I admit it... we never would have had two rooms, connecting with balconies on the spa level if it hadn't had been for the Swine flu.... we got lucky and booked two of these incredible rooms and now it'll be really hard to go back to those interior rooms...deeep sigh.

Ports of call

Astoria, Oregon

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Had sunshine that day...first of the year. beautiful,,, historic and if we hadn't been there before we would have enjoyed it more.

Victoria, British Columbia

3 out of 5
beautiful.... been there, done that.

Pros: well maintained. Never felt crowded.

Cons: Pink, Pink and more pink........very odd decor thru out the ship
