Review summary

This was our first cruise and for the exception of just the one excursion on half moon cay and not hearing back from carnival for a refund, it was a great experience and would highly recommend it, just make sure you check into excursions better.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation went pretty smoothly as long as you have all of your documents ready

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We were very pleased with the food, the buffet had quite a selection for even picky eaters. We tried the main dining room a couple times and the food was good, however, we liked the buffet better. The entertainment in the dining room with the wait staff was a great way to get to know your server, they all work hard and are all very wonderful to all guests.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We did use the pools and hot tubs. The main pool was pretty small for the amount of guests onboard. The hot tubs were always full, and it is rather uncomfortable lounging with total strangers in them.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment was great! Deon, our cruise director, was fantastic! He was a great dancer and made us laugh! The steel drum entertainer, I'm sorry I cannot remember his name, was also fabulous and very talented! Most entertainers we watched were great!

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward, Oka, was excellent, always asking if we needed anything, he went above and beyond...everyone of the staff were polite and very friendly. Every morning each of them would say good morning to us. That may not mean alot to some people, but it did to us. They all work very hard and endless to make sure each and every one of us has a wonderful experience.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
All the areas were very clean and we'll maintained! Kudos to all involved!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our room was great, a little small, however, it was nice having a balcony, very clean!

Ship tip

Have a great time and enjoy all the amenities the ship has to offer!

Ports of call

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

Only embarked and disembarked and had to get right on the plane

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Beautiful ocean, warm weather and great restaurants and people!

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

2 out of 5
The weather, unfortunately, was rainy, we were supposed to go horse back riding, but could not because they told us we did not have proper footwear. We were never told this at all about this excursion, I think I guess I should have known better. We never got a refund either and I have complained to carnival about this in my other review, but have not heard back. If someone could help that would be nice, it was an expensive excursion and are not happy about this!

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Loved everything about grand turk! The weather was beautiful, went swimming at bohio dive resort and were served burgers and beer, then laid on the beach for a few hours. It was absolutely wonderful there!!!

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Went pretty smoothly and fast

Thank you donf407...did not see that at all. I appreciate your feedback, still does not make me happy, however, I guess it was my fault for not checking into this more. I actually just read the tickets i received and it didn't say anything about it. My bad, live and learn...

Not to be an ass but this is the excursion details copyed directly from Carnival‘s website if you read it says close toed shoes no sandals if you failed to read and follow the rules it’s not there fault ..... Saddle up for the horseback riding experience of a lifetime! Make a short tram ride to your orientation where you will then mount up and set out with your guides along winding trails and up to the highest point on the island. Enjoy a great photo opportunity and panoramic view of Half Moon Cay and the surrounding Bahamian islands. Continue along the bay in route back to the corral where you will enjoy a refreshment while your horse is "dressed" for swimming in specially designed pad and rope halter (no saddle). Then ride your horse into the sea for a memorable swim! Afterwards, re-board your tram for the ride back to the Fort San Salvador Welcome Center. NOTES The minimum age to attend this tour is 10 years old; maximum weight is 250 lbs. Wear your swimsuit and don't forget your towel, sunscreen and camera. Closed toe shoes are required, sandals are not permitted. Riding time is approximately 35 minutes. Many of the shore excursions and watersport rentals on Half Moon Cay require that you sign a waiver release form administered by the Tour Operator.Where required, the waivers will be provided prior to tour departure at the meeting point on the island or at the watersports huts prior to rental.
