Having cruised many times before, both on older and newer boats, I went on the sensation with an open mind that we were doing an older boat but despite the age and rustcicles on the outside it would be okay.
I would never do this class of ship again! It along with some of the "experiences/encounters" aboard, I'd also probably never sail Carnival again.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Thought it thankfully didn't take very long compared to other cruises we've done, it was very disorganized and the staff were very lost and confused.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

awful, gross, disgusting seem to be the correct words. Survived on soft serve ice cream until the first port.

Children's Programs

this was the best and cleanest thing the carnival sensation has going for it! staff and facilities here were A+.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
overall, the staff were friendly and courteous which made a horrible cruise bearable.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
common areas were generally clean (unlike our stateroom floor or balcony) however there were no trash bins anywhere in any common areas throughout the ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
the cabin was spacious, albeit small when compared to other grand suites. the bathroom despite when being cleaned constantly smelled of stale urine. the room smelled of smoke (smoke from a fire the first two days) and reeked cigarette smoke the last three.
Our floors only appeared to have been vacuumed on the last sea day (as evidenced by the few pieces of cereal that remained there from the first night). The bed linens were pilly and old and felt very worn. the pillows, were equally unimpressive.
even more disorganized than embarkation. the only good thing about it was everyone has the same mission, so you're bound to get pushed off at some point.
We were on the Sensation in January, your experience was180 degrees from our experience. Good was good, especially Guys. Getting on and off was very easy. Sorry you had a rough time.
