Review summary

We enjoyed the cruise overall, although the experience was mixed. The buffet food was *terrible*, and so we didn't eat the buffet after that first lunch. The food at the Fantasy Dining Room was excellent for most of the dinners. Don't order the lobster tail, though. My wife ordered it the last night, and she ended up sick the following morning. Also, be aware that the breakfast service (in the Fantasy Dining Room) tended to be very slow. If you have an excursion, give yourself 45 minutes to an hour to eat. The entertainment during the cruise was good. We particularly enjoyed one of the comedians, along with the singers/dancers.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We registered online, so the process of boarding the ship was *very* easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food on the lido deck (in the buffet area) was *terrible*. We ate there for the first lunch, and we never went back. I had an eggplant dish that was burned and mushy, and my wife had a sandwich that was not very good, either. The food in the Fantasy Dining Room was *much* better, and the service there was excellent (for dinner, that is). Service for breakfast tended to be slow, which was a problem on mornings when we had excursions and needed to leave by a particular time. One morning, our waiter took our order (after a *long* delay), and he never came back to our table after bringing our food. We had to get and serve our own fruit. On the last night, my wife ordered the lobster tail, and she ended up with diarrhea the following morning. *Don't* order the lobster tail, since it was clearly frozen and contained some kind of pathogen.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The pools were small and overcrowded. We didn't really use any of the onboard facilities.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
One of the comedians was extremely funny; one was just OK. The musical shows were very good.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our evening waiter was *excellent*. He provided such outstanding service, that we asked for him every night. The breakfast service (in the Fantasy Dining Room) was consistently slow, which meant that we were constantly worried about not making it to our excursion on time. The room steward did a fine job cleaning our room each day.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship was clean, although you could tell that this was an older ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We paid extra for an "ocean view" cabin, and we did enjoy having a view. The bed was large, which we appreciated as well.

Ship tip

Avoid the buffet on the lido deck. Fantasy Dining Room was great for dinner.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

4 out of 5
We started in Miami. It was easy to get to the port, and the boarding process was very easy, since we were able to register online first.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

4 out of 5
My wife has been to Ocho Rios before, so we spent a good part of our time shopping. The shopping expert on the cruise was helpful for this part.

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
We did the turtle swim and stingray experience. It rained heavily for part of the day, so we could only do some of the activities at the turtle center. The stingray experience was much better.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
The disembarkation was easy, although of course the lines were a bit long to go through customs.

Did your wife only eat Lobster that evening, couldn't have been anything else?
