Review summary

This experience exceeded our expectations and we will definitely book again, possibly through BJ's since they gave us a $50 credit to spend on board.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
My cabin mate and I had a smooth embarkation and our bags were delivered to our rooms timely with no issues. However, my friend whose birthday we were celebrating didn't receive her bags until later that evening. First they told her they couldn't find them, then they magically showed up several hours later. They may have been delivered to the wrong cabin accidentally, but it wasn't a good way for her to start her birthday trip. Nevertheless, it was uphill from there. :-)

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The buffet was good but more variety would've made it better. The fries are addictive!!!

Ecstasy Dining Room

5 out of 5

The food was delicious and the service was excellent every time we dined here. Yusrin and Abriana served us at dinner and Z (I can't remember his real name!) served us at breakfast/brunch. They were all welcoming, fun, personable, friendly, entertaining, attentive and efficient. They made a HUGE impact on our overall experience and I can't thank them enough.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The activities, along with the crew working them, made our night every night. I thoroughly enjoyed Ronan at the piano bar! He was so fun and welcoming! And even if he didn't know a song, he would still try his best to play it so we could sing along. My only regret is that I didn't discover it sooner. The karaoke had the BEST host Daniela. No matter how many people went up to sing, she gave the most enthusiastic and exciting intro for each person. She even got up on stage and danced along. I love that she participated in our fun. The live band was fun too. I just wish they didn't play the same songs every night. The one comedy show that we actually caught was too short, only 30 minutes to be exact. As soon as you got comfortable, it was over. And the comedian we saw was ok. It was the late night adult show so the jokes were provocative which we expected, but his jokes didn't make me laugh genuinely. Kaleidoscope Nightclub was fun the first 2 nights but then it got old and left us searching for something different to do, which is how we stumbled upon the awesome piano bar. The Latin club (I think it was called Michelangelo's) was fun too and they played a variety of salsa, bachata, and other music. The daytime activities were few pretty much the same everyday. A bigger variety of activities overall would've been better but we had a blast with what we had.

Resort Style Pool

The pool was TINY and always packed during the day. For that ship to be as big as it is and to hold as many people as were on the cruise, it needs more than one pool or at least one much bigger pool.

Entertainment

Sooo the dj on the main deck played the same Caribbean music during the day. The dj in the Kaleidoscope nightclub did a good job of playing a variety of music. The Studio 54 musical was very good. However, my friends volunteered as VIP audience members where they had to get up on stage and dance. Well what the cast members didn't tell them is that it would be a CHOREOGRAPHED dance number (to the Hustle to be exact). Now, my friends aren't exactly shy. Like I said, they volunteered to do this. However, just dancing on stage for fun and trying to keep up with professional dancers who have practiced a dance while you have not is more embarrassing than fun. Now, granted they hadn't had a drink yet, but afterward they were begging for one because they were so embarrassed by their performance. I'm sure they would've appreciated a more accurate depiction of what they would be doing when they got up on stage in front of a packed audience. The show itself was entertaining and my friends did get over their terrible performance eventually.

Service and Staff

Everyone. Literally, EVERYONE was super nice and friendly. Our housekeeper Eman was so sweet with his cute self. He made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed everyday. He even suggested activities and kept us laughing.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Although a bit outdated (it's an older ship), it was very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

Great size. My cabin mate and I were able to walk around without bumping into each other. The beds were very comfy (very important when you feel the boat moving at night), and the cabin was cleaner than some hotels I've stayed in.

Ship tip

Take some time to familiarize yourself with the ship the first day so you don't waste time getting lost every time you go somewhere.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

I don't have an opinion because this was my first cruise. But the city itself is fun.

Key West, Florida

Beautiful. Good shopping. Did not do an excursion but we wish we would have. We didn't think we'd have enough time since we were only there for 5 hrs.

Cozumel, Mexico

We did an excursion that we booked through BJs. We thoroughly enjoyed our snorkeling excursion for beginners. I can't swim but I felt safe because our host walked us into the water and gave us step by step instructions. If we hadn't done an excursion though, we would've been very bored or we would've spenta lot of money looking for things to do and drinking. Next time we will look for destinations that aren't so touristy or at least have more attractions.

Disembarkation

It was a smooth process and the video that they showed on tv in the cabins definitely helped prepare us.
