This is our second time cruising to Cozumel. It's a great place to spend the day. Make sure you try out Wet Wendy's. Best margaritas and the food is really good. Also, consider buying gifts in town and not at the cruise terminal. The price difference is significant.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
When we arrived in Miami at the terminal, we got through security very quickly then headed to the check-in area. Since we pre-checked, we were able to get right on to Sensation. Compared to the past when we had to wait for awhile, this was a pleasant surprise and bonus as we were able to get onboard quicker so we could begin the fun.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Food and service in both the main dining room and specialty restaurants like Guy Fieri's was outstanding. Can't say enough about the main dining room staff. They made us feel like royalty and their nightly entertainment made our dining experience even more memorable.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
The pool was always crowded, but we managed to find a place to relax and we never lacked in the beverage department. Mini golf on the top deck provides a nice view of the ocean just be prepared for the wind.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We skipped most of the shows this time since we were on Sensation just 5 months earlier. This was designed to be a relaxation cruise. We did catch one of the bands on Promenade Deck. They were average. Couldn't stay as long as we would have like since the cigarette smoke from the casino was just too overpowering.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
This is what really made our cruise outstanding. Both our cabin steward and main dining room wait staff took care of us beyond our expectations. This was an anniversary cruise for my wife and I; our cabin steward surprised us with an anniversary gift. Both teams always called us by name. Just amazing customer service.
We rented scooters and did our own thing. Not a lot of time to really dedicate to one excursion. Just went sightseeing. Ate at Sloppy Joe's and went to the Original Key Lime Pie Factory.
We did an all-inclusive resort in Cozumel and it was worth every penny. No problem getting to it from the port. The food was authentic and plentiful (buffet) and the adult beverages flowed like water. Never been double fisted so long in my life. Great to try drinks I have never had before. Oh, and the sunset was SPECTACULAR!!! Lots of iguanas.
Thank you for a very informative review. I liked how you emphasized how much of your experience was positive and you were honest about the few areas that weren't 100 without begin unnecessarily negative without the usual complaints like Sensation being an older ship, blah, blah, blah. I'm looking forward to cruising in a month.
