Review summary

The entire experience was a good one. It was my husband's first time on a cruise and he enjoyed the experience with the exception with the quality of the food in the dining room and the noise in the stateroom.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The embarkation experience was great. We boarded in a timely manner.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The Embassy Dining Room was only okay. The main issue was the temperature and qualify of the food served. The food was not hot and that was a challenge for me. The quality and portions were not as expected. So this part of the ship experience was not a good one.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The onboard activities were okay. We are not gamblers so we did not visit the casino nor partake in bingo. With the inclement weather we did not do poolside, etc. For the Fun Shops vendors they we not always open at times that were convenient to us (i.e. 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.) when early dinner is at 6 p.m. Also, it was advertised that a Carnival sale was to take place; never found the location at 3 p.m. as it was not where it was shown on the itinerary. I missed out on purchasing one of the Carnival crossbody bags!! I found I could not purchase it online because we had embarked already.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The entertainment was good. We enjoyed the couple of evening shows we attended. The disco was okay; catered to young people and the types of music they enjoy. However, the DJ covered a variety of genres when playing selections.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service received from the waiters and room steward, Reiche, was exceptional. The staff in guest services, both Gabrielle and the supervisor, were great. The stateroom we were in (E184) had an awful noise problem that kept us up during the night; no one knew what the noise was, nor where it was coming from and it was extremely loud! I could not believe we were the only ones to hear it!! After two sleepless nights, we went to guest services and Gabrielle provided us with an ext. to call so someone could come to investigate. We finally connected with someone when the noise occurred yet again; the engineer did hear it and apologized for the inconvenience, but did not know what was causing it. We had the opportunity, by the grace of God alone, to move from E184 to E67 for the last two nights of the cruise.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship's design and layout were good; all the common areas were clean and well-maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The overall comfort, size, and cleanliness of the stateroom were good. I gave the rating I did because the greatest challenge was the awful noise problem that kept us up during the night; no one knew what the noise was, nor where it was coming from and it was extremely loud!

Ship tip

Be prepared for an enjoyable experience.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

Once we arrived from Ft. Lauderdale we were able to embark early so we chose to do so.

Key West, Florida Did not visit port

Was too tired to get off the ship after having been up practically all night on 8/24/2017 with the loud unknown noise in the stateroom.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
The port was good; we did not do an excursion. There were nice shops and sights to see and we opted to do a horse and buggy tour around the island which was very relaxing and enjoyable.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
The disembarkation experience was great. We did not wait long to get through the process and luggage was found in a timely manner. The transport bus arrived in a timely manner to transport us from Miami to Ft. Lauderdale.

What stateroom number did you have?

Rise of specialty restaurants has made the complimentary dining rooms a little less pleasing. On land it's called merchandising

Next time please pick a room with a cabin above, and a cabin below. Much quieter. Food? No answer for the ship on my behalf.
