Review summary

I went on this cruise for a different purpose than many do: I needed the creative space to make progress on a writing project. So I came with a laptop and got exactly what I needed, with all my other needs (food, workout facilities, varied spaces to sit and think) cared for. It was perfect!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Welcoming, informative, smooth: the timed entrance and checked luggage made getting on a breeze.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Lots of options from fast casual to full service dining! I appreciated the water and coffee available at all hours.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I didn’t take advantage of many of these activities, but the gym facilities were excellent and nearly every piece of equipment in top shape.

Entertainment

I didn’t attend any entertainment options, as I was cruising alone and had different goals.

Children's Programs

I didn’t bring my children along on the cruise (but there were lots of kids cruising, which isn’t always the vibe of other cruises I’ve been on)

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff were so attentive and plentiful. If I ever had questions, they were ready to help. My assigned cabin steward Erman was excellent, thorough, thoughtful, and kind.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Constantly being cleaned and tidied, the common areas accommodated a constant flow of people very well.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I had an internal room without windows and it was totally pleasant and peaceful. Way more spacious than I anticipated and with places to store away my belongings comfortably. The bed was very pleasant too!

Ship tip

Desserts on the buffet peak at lunchtime!

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

4 out of 5
Parking on site was very easy! $23/night.

Catalina Island, California

5 out of 5
Cute island town! I got some great coffee at a local shop and enjoyed the blooming flowers and quaint town.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
I carried off my own luggage and felt very informed by the cruise staff about doing so.
