I will never take a cruise on Carnival again. Also, I have created many reviews and this is the first one where there was a minimum number of characters required before you were able to complete your review. Dumb.
Embarkation

The confusion due to a complete lack of communication started at the very beginning. After repeatedly tell us that early boarding was not an option, staff encouraged this upon arrival.

Food and Dining

The servers were beyond reproach, however, I was told that my dining was set and the other two couples were combined and we were to be seated at 6pm. However, we were not and staff were not in place until the doors opened, causing delays in the seating. Also nowhere did it state that the Sunrise was assigned and Sunset was unassigned. Or was it the other way around? I still don't know. The ribeye steak that I ordered medium rare came out as well done and inedible. When I sent it back, I got extremely raw. The last night, every person at my table found their main meal to be inedible. Also, we noticed that more than once, an appetizer was also a main course. What's up with that? I've never seen that before and hope that I never will.

Service and Staff
3 out of 5
While the dining room staff and our cabin guy were excellent, Pretty much everyone else was sub-par. I've never been yelled at by staff on any other cruise I've taken, the woman who was in charge of setting up the main entertainment room did often. This is the first time I've been on a cruise where there was a charge for room service. They wanted $3 for a pot of hot water! The staff did make a suggestion that if we bought a pizza for $#, we could get the water free. I guess you get what you pay for though...there was not enough hot water for 2 small coffee cups...
The port itself was Okay, but we stood in the rain for an hour to get back to the ship. Eventually they sent some larger shuttle ships, but it seemed like the last minute (and by that I mean the last hour rush) was a surprise. I pretty sure that this was no the first timne these dynamics were in play.
Again, complete chaos. The ship shut down 4 elevators causing extreme delays for passengers. There was absolutely zero communication about the process. Also I still haven't figured out navigating the ship with the dining rooms right in the middle of t he ship on decks 3 and four. Also, would it kill somebody to put an arrow pointing forward on the wall by the elevators?
For disembarkation how do you think they will get the luggage for thousands of people off the ship of they don't shut down some of the elevators that the guests would use. I guess cruising is not for you or maybe you forgot to pack your patience.
On the walls of the hallways were cabins are the cabin numbers are listed and it says aft and forward with arrows. So you can tell which direction to go. It's not that hard, plus like someone else said the picture of the ship by the elevators tells you where you are.
I've done several Carnival Cruises out of a few different ports but mainly out of Long Beach because I live within driving distance and of course things don't always go smoothly, including messed up food but it sounds like you were unorganized with your plans which had a chain reaction and made everything seem worse than it really was.
Cruising during a holiday is rarely a good experience. Complaining about the minimum number of characters needed in a review may explain were part of the problem lies
