Unfortunately a few of the excursions were unprepared for us, taxi lines were long.. 1 1/2 wait in Hilo for a taxi and our beach excursion to a resort in Maui.. didn’t know we were coming when we got there
Embarkation
4 out of 5
We were suite guest so we came through early and had a separate waiting area
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
As frequent Carnival cruises we have tried all the venues, we continue to comment in our surveys about the Main DR menu in hopes someday they’ll make some changes and add back some old favorites, beef Wellington, cherries julibilee
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Activities were not really geared for this crowd. There were very few children on this cruise, mostly older adults. A few movies were kid-based cartoon/ Disney, it really could used more thought for a 14 day cruise and the demographics of the passengers
More Bingo, more lectures on our destination, one “make Hawaii lay” craft event had so many people wanting to do it people were turned away and hour before the event
I enjoyed the gym and classes I took it help break up the sea days
Entertainment
2 out of 5
This was really poor, one night the entertainers just passed a mike around on stage an sang karaoke
It would have been nice to have some music that reflected our destination on the lido deck in the atrium, nice Hawaii inspired Polynesian music. Never had any
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
As alway they all go out
of their way to give passengers and acceptional experience
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Recently in dry dock for upgrades, lacking some quite spaces. The buffet area was always full with passengers playing cards and games, even at meal times this area was full hard to find a seat for eating. Public Areas were always neat and clean
Ship tip
The error we made was thinking Carnival could pull off an expensive 14 day Journeys cruise on a ship that normally does 3-5 day cruises, this was a fill in itinerary for them. This ship and staff could have used more corporate support in the better planning of, music, food, activities that reflected our destination. It unfortunately didn’t meet our expectations for a vacation that was 3 years in the making ( and COVID postponement)
I was on this cruise also. Definitely lacking in areas. We done mostly 10+ day cruises with carnival. Booked when the ship was set to be the Miracle… which has done long Alaska trips. We had a great time on the Miracle in 2018 to Alaska. So it was disappointing to switch to the Radiance. I think you’re right, the ship is used to short party cruises to Mexico and we’re not prepared for the clientele, entertainment, and needs that come with long sailings.
