Review summary

We have done this 4 day cruise several times over the years and always enjoy it. This time tough, fellow cruisers were strangers to courtesy. Our hallway became a loud area for congregation and conversation well past 3:00 a.m. on more than one day. It was unclear whether anyone from security dispersed the crowd or whether it was a frustrated cruiser. The buffet was seriously challenging at most times with people crowding in on lines and generally being loud and rude. The group was full of enthusiastic partiers who participated fully in the nighttime party events on the Lido deck and elsewhere, which is great but often required finding alternative routes to the room because entrances to the ship interior were blocked several people deep. As mentioned elsewhere, tender in Catalina was a great frustration to many people and resulted in very little time ashore. Disembarkation was also disorganized with virtually no staff directing traffic. Good things: our interior room (8272) was spacious and conveniently located. Note: the walls are not magnetic, so the hooks we took did not work. The burgers are delicious. The ship is very pretty…all beachy blue and green decor. No library on this ship. Nice shops and venues (for an extra charge ) like a specialty coffee shop and lobster rolls at the seafood shack. Would go on the Radiance again, but hopefully not with so many local rowdies.

Great location for an interior cabin, and spacious cabin.

Ship tip

Buffet was very difficult to maneuver during peak times. Suggest eating early or late in the available time periods.

Ports of call

Ensenada, Mexico

We always enjoy Ensenada! Some changes: the shuttle to town from the port is $4 per person roundtrip and very convenient. Once in town, the bus to La Bufadora used to be $10 pp, but is now $25 pp for the ride and two hours shopping time. You can find many of the same items in town, as well as some new upscale shops with beautiful jewelry and fine cigars, for example. We had a great lunch at a sidewalk restaurant called (I think) El Corralito on the mail street. Delicious guacamole and steak quesadillas!!

Catalina Island, California

Lovely port. Tender service was REALLY slow and disorganized so we only had about an hour and a half ashore but we enjoyed it!

Disembarkation

No staff directing traffic and consequently disorganized
