Review summary

In comparison to the Horizon and the Panorama the Radiance came in third but I believe time will improve staff and hopefully the food.

Embarkation

One in our party requested wheelchair assistance, we waited almost an hour. It was pouring in Long Beach and we were all soaked. What was disappointing was when we would ask for an update they wouldn’t check where the wheelchair was They just repeated that it was coming. While waiting for the wheel chair the tables that checked you in were open. I asked if one could come to the bench the wheel chair passenger was waiting at. They said no. She had to walk over and stand while they checked her in. Poor customer service.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

We had one good meal in the dining room with Nevan. He and his staff was amazing. All other days were disappointing. The service in the dining room was poor. Servers didn’t give a good description of what you would be getting when you asked them questions regarding the dishes. They need work. The sushi on board was the best meal we had. Highly recommend.

BlueIguana Cantina

We tried the fish tacos when we first boarded and they were good. The only issue that day was the condiment containers were almost always empty. No guacamole to be had.

Lido Marketplace Buffet

Never ate here except for dessert and coffee. Food did not look appetizing. Dessert bar staff was always fun and informative. Especially on chocolate day.

Bonsai Sushi

Service and Staff

Room Stewart was on! He left his number if we needed anything. Always remembered our names and was gracious and efficient. Our room was always clean and well appointed. The dining room waiters for dinner haven’t seemed to get their routine down yet. We watched passengers come and go before our meal arrived two hours later. They must have forgot to put my order for filet and lobster in. We were still charged for it though. Main desk staff was very helpful but staff was disorganized during debarkaction. We had an early flight and we’re told where to meet but there was no wheel chair. Ikadek saved the day.

Cabin / Stateroom

It’s not a five star for only one reason. When you step out of the elevator and look to port side you see this cabin. That makes getting back to your room after fun on deck very convenient but the ding of every elevator and the conversations by the elevator bays were very loud. If you are a lite sleeper this is not the room for you.

Ship tip

If you are paying for any extra items in the dining room get a clear idea of what to expect. I ordered the Lobster Eggs Benedict after asking the waiter how much lobster came on each muffin. I was told 2 pieces of lobster. There was 1 fingerling piece of lobster on one muffin. The other only had egg, hollandaise and tomato.

Disembarkation

I asked at the front desk where the early flight people were to meet. He provided the correct lounge name and said to ask for a wheel chair when I got there. We arrived early and made the request. Eventually we’re told we would have to wait until 9 am for a wheel chair. Spoke to the cruise director and he repeated the same information. I explained how unhappy I was with this turn of events and an officer spoke to him. I was then told a wheel chair would be provided momentarily. Ikadek took me to the end of the gangway and a young lady at the Long Beach port took over and took me through facial recognition and all the way out to the taxis. We made our flight.
