rachbrice79 Cruise Review on Carnival Pride on Feb 25, 2018

I am so sorry that I didn't elaborate on this post. I think I deleted the shipmate app right after this. We're actually giving it another shot, sailing on the new panorama next month. Here's what I wrote to Carnival that explains why we were unhappy: This was our sixth cruise with Carnival.  We've considered other cruise lines in the past, but have continued to chose Carnival in order to build up our VIFP points.  We have always been happy with Carnival up until now! This cruise started out bad and really didn't ever get any better. We purchased FTTF and our understanding is that with this, our cabin should have been ready upon embarkation, which it was not!  We checked back several times only to be told it still wasn't ready. Our room was finally ready about 2:00, which I believe was the time all cabins should have been ready.   Bar Service and Bartenders were horrible!  We purchased the drink package for the first time this cruise and it was almost impossible to get a drink at any of the bars without waiting for at least 10-15 minutes every time.  I got skipped over several times for people that had came up to the bar after me. This was very frustrating! Most of the Bartenders were not very personable or friendly. They did not seem to enjoy their jobs and made it seem like having to make me a drink was an inconvenience to them.  I also did not like the fact that the same drinks were not available at all the bars, which meant if you wanted a certain drink you had to go to a specific bar, which half the time that bar wasn't even open. Rowena in the Piano Bar was literally the only Bartender we liked on the entire cruise, but the Piano Bar isn't open all hours.  The Casino Bar and Red Frog pub were the worst! Guys Burgers, the Pizza Pirate, and Blue Iguana had the only decent food on the ship and that got very old after a week!  The Mermaid Buffet was horrible! It seemed to have the same thing day after day. The Dining room food wasn't any better, it just had a better presentation, but seemed to be basically the same food as the buffet.  It was like eating at Denny's every night, which has never been my first choice, more like my last! The Nor'Eastern storm started Friday night, but this was the very least of our concern!  I appreciate the Captain taking the ship 80 miles out of the way to steer clear of even rougher waters.  He was very apologetic about the whole situation. We understand that weather can be very unpredictable, but commend him for doing everything in his power to make our return trip as smooth as possible. We chose to check our bags the evening prior to debarkation, but would have probably carried them ourselves had the process been clarified a little better.  We chose to wait in our cabin until an hour before arriving in the port. We then had to wait on the floor for an hour because there was no seating in any of the waiting areas, which was partly our fault for not leaving our cabin sooner.  After waiting on the floor for over an hour we were told that since we were FTTF we could have been waiting in the Red Frog Pub until our luggage zone was called. We were also informed that most of the time FTTF zones are one of the first few zones called, but we ended up with zone 8 and did not get off the ship until several hours after getting into port.  Had we known we could have been one of the first to get off the ship with FTTF, we would have carried our own luggage instead of checking it the night before. Debarkation was very unclear. We don't remember communication being this bad on our last cruises. As stated earlier, this was our 6th Carnival Cruise.  We were already considering other cruise lines before this vacation and after this trip we're not sure that we will ever take another Carnival Cruise again.  We had always been fairly satisfied with your cruise line, so we're not sure if Carnival Cruise lines has gone down hill or it is just the Pride itself!

Rachael2 can you please tell us some details about your experience? I will be taking my very first cruise on the Pride in December and I'm curious to know what issues you had.

How can you slam the ship and company and not elaborate? I never give a bad review without being clear on what the problems were, its irresponsible.

I have been on the Pride twice.. 2011 and 2015... Both trips were wonderful and there was nothing to complain about... The staff were all friendly and helpful, the entertainment was exciting, and the food was awesome... I will definitely sail on the Pride again !!!

This is my favorite ship. Please don’t let a few bad reviews make you second guess your trip. You will find plenty of glowing reviews on the Pride. Some people just think differently. I’m too busy having fun and looking at the beautiful ocean and sunsets to notice a piece of peeling paint. I have never had a bad cruise yet on any Carnival ship. If you want a new fancy big ship, this isn’t it. People should do their homework first and if that’s what they want, find another ship. The Pride is what it is. It’s a smaller, older ship, but I think it is amazing.

Please don’t have second thoughts! We love cruising and we love carnival. The pride, overall, does need some renovation and perhaps some painting. However, the ship is lovely, and a your first time, you will love it!

I hate when people post things like that it makes me get second thoughts about my cruise and this is my first time cruising

We are on it this coming Sunday. I’m guessing the Nor’easter was the problem. Surprised it actually got in same day.

Oh don't say that, we are on this ship in 41 days...what were the problems?

Rachael2, could you please elaborate? We've been on 7 Carnival cruises and don't have a bad thing to say about any of them.

Due to bad weather it pulled into port really late; 4:30pm instead of this morning. Who knows maybe OP missed their flight home as a result? Yeah it's Carnival fault Mother Nature failed to cooperate.

What happened? We are going on Pride in April.
