Changed itinerary at last minute,  thought a $25 on board credit was fair.

Food was avg.

Boat was much smaller than it appears

Basketball rim was bent

Charged gratuity for everything it seemed like.

Staff was pretty decent

My experience with Carnival Paradise by OcasionalCruis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is an ideal cruise for families and young people. Not recommended for the elderly who would like it noise free. Open decks were full of drinking buddies and noisy groups. Well suited for singles.

Very limited entertainment and activities.

Food was very basic. The staff needs more training. Cleanliness in Lido deck was very poor. Considering the amount one pays for the cruise it was not a bad deal. The cabin staff was excellent. Dining room staff was average. Boarding and disembarking was badly organised. Lot of waiting.

Family cruising by Familyfun2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our teenagers loved the variety of food that was available at all times of the day and night.  They also thoroughly enjoyed being part of "Club O2" and "Circle C" and as parents, we didn't worry about them being completely on their own and they were never bored!

The game options were a lot of fun (Cranium was great family entertainment), but would have also liked to see more variety of family games.

The evening entertainment was mediocre, more variety of evening options, especially for couples, would have been great.  A dance party on the pool deck earlier in the evening would have been fun too!  The 80's theme got old fast.

As expected by MidlifeCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Best Parts: 1. Cabin was nice. Be sure to get a cabin with windows. 2. The bars serve TOP SHELF liquor. 3. Food was OK, some good some fair. 4. Seas were calm. 5. Everything went as advertised.

Worse Parts: 1. Pool filled with Kids all the time. 2. Adult only section was too small, always full. 3. The CHEERS program was a rip off. $631 for 5 days for 2 people. Can't drink that much. 4. Got bored on the ship. Not enough to do on board. You can only lay in the sun and drink for a couple days before you get bored. 5. Bed was HARD! 6. No info provided about what to do at the island stops if you don't care to purchase activities. They don't even provide a map of the islands so you can't plan ahead what you will do on the islands for the day. Everything is sell, sell, sell.

This was my second cruise. On the first cruise I bought shore excursions, they were fun. On the first one I used Carnival's travel agency. They planned the flights and cruise. They planned the flight arrival poorly and my luggage didn't get to me for 2 days. They flew it to Grand Cayman. The worst part was they blamed me for scheduling the flight timing too close to the ship departure when they planned the entire thing. No refund, no apology. That was 20 years ago. So after 20 years I decided to try again. Probably won't do another cruise. Just too boring and I feel ripped off by the CHEERS program.

Where to start. by phyllise158

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The good, food and service staff.  The worse, the room was smaller than expected, carpet worn and tv in protruding cabinet from ceiling.  I went around TV extention to look out our window and though I ducked, bumped the corner which bent my glasses.  We requested a room change offering to pay for it, but none available so they made the bed into twins, moving one against the window wall, which meant we should have paid for an inside since we could only look out if we kneelt on the bed.  Worse of all was my husband had 5 trips to the infirmary due to a trip over one of the bands that play in the walk area leaving their black amps on black tile extending out into the walk area.  Unless you walk with your head down all the time you would never expect to see them.  Personnel who helped us commented that they should be on the stage or marked with tape.  They did erase our ship bill $214.00 but seeing how we paid over $1200 and ended up with a bad room and were told by the Doctor that we could not go out at Cozumel because of the sun and heat so we had to stay on the ship all day with everything closed and my husband's fall that seems  paltry to me.  Worse cruise ever!

Awesome time by JenniferRobert

Our favorite part of the cruise was leaving the daily grind behind us. No pressure to do anything but enjoy ourselves. The performs were excellent, the comics kept us laughing. The ports of call were pleasant, and the days at seas were grand.

Almost Excellent by Enjoycruises

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed the food, shows, the ports and onboard service. What stops us from giving you a 5 star rating is the lack of dancing opportunities. The only venue that seemed appropriate was the room with Karioke while the entertainment playing dance music was out along a passage from one venue to another or in the lobby which has no dance floor.. Additionally, the choice of types of music was  mostly weighted to folk rock.

Carnival Cruise review by Wyatt27

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a really nice time on he Paradise last week. The ship was much cleaner than the last trip and the food was much much better. The food at Elation was excellent. Our head waiter Lino was excellent as well.

The shows were also very good. Very impressed w the range the singers displayed.

The comedians were hilarious. I'll be singing nipple songs for weeks.

The kids were disappointed w the kids camps. We ended up not using them at all.

Thanks

Cruise review by Vacationalot

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I enjoyed this cruise back in October and would have given it 5 stars back then   I tend to spend a lot of money in the spa and casino I really enjoy pampering myself and my wife while on vacation. This trip however was a bit different. I always get the drink packages because I like to have a little more fun than others so I did again this time. I also like to partake on embankments to enjoy another country's fair. However upon re entry someone decided to cut me off in Cozumel and I suppose put me on a list that I wasn't to be served anymore indefinitely

I was appalled there was no take a break fella we will talk to you in an hour or so it was just shut off.  Mind you I hadn't had a drink from my package that day because Cozumel was an early embarking of which I was offered no refund. Of course this didn't stop me from getting more drinks I had fortunately made plenty of friends who either got me drinks off their package or purchased them on my behalf so it really didn't set me back any it was just the point. The part that really pissed me off was no communication until a request was made the next morning then I had to wait like a child until someone could see us. THen they made me fill out a form saying something like it was my fault or basically letting them off the hook with some bs statement that they pretty much coached me into writing but what was I supposed to do not enjoy my last day. In other words 1 person has the ability to make a decision to ruin one of your days on your vacation without any consolation what a joke. I doubt I will consider this cruise line ever again knowing how they treat people with the judgement of one person. Need I say again I probably drank more after the cut off than before and nobody was hurt no fights no nothing...

also I spent over 4K on the boat in extras. Guaranteed that I was in the minority of people who spent that much in spa em entities and such. Major mistake on their part not bringing in a few more opinions. The food was ok the the service not as good as October just a major let down. And to this point nobody from carnival has reached out to refund that days package or apologize and I'm not the kind to call them and complain for I don't have that kind of time. This email has been sitting here for weeks and I finally decided to share don't want this experience happening to anyone else

little get away by traviswells

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

although the ship was smaller then many other and older it was a fun cruise.

the ports are great for this little get away.

the down sides to this ship is the lack of outlets.  there is only half a std outlet so bring a power strip and the food was below par of other cruise lines.

there is only the 3 dinning options and they all served the same menu.

the staff and crew as always was great.

Caribbean fun by Cruisenforfun

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Had a great time on the cruise. The wait staff at the Elations dinning room was great our waiters Samuel, Fritz, Noel, and Zoltan, whom also had the best name, made us feel feel at home and made sure our dinners were unforgettable, and the host Dai was always there with a smile. Our room steward Athikom always greeted us by name. Making us feel welcome.

Great cruise for Groups by clemsongirl82

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a lovely time on this cruise. Everything was super easy through . Stayed in the ocean view room, great closet space, clean, and spacious enough for 2 moms. Bathroom needs a little update but we weren't in the room much so it was fine. Shower head had AWESOME pressure and hot water all the time. Ship overall was great. Maggie over the karoke was spectacular and so was Martin at the piano bar. Ask for Olga and Jose if you are dining in Elation if you can...they will never steer you wrong. We asked for their table every night after the 1st night. Only giving 4 stars because in order to have a balcony you had to get a suite which is out of our price range. No adjoining rooms either. Wait staff EVERYWHERE was very courteous and made sure our party of 7 moms were doing ok. Will be booking this cruise again next year!

Wink

Worst food ever on a cruise. Eating environment was poor. by tviolanti

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We've been on many cruises and although our overall vacation was nice it was due to few employees and others we met on our trip. The food was very poor and felt as though we were discriminated against due to the fact that we smoke. Our room was nice but didn't feel the overwhelming difference in money to purchase the grand suite wasn't really worth it. We felt tension among staff in certain areas but there was a small few that went out of there way to go above and beyond.  Overall we felt as though we were on a low budget Cruise. Paradise is definitely not a ship we would ever book again.

A good value by billandmjkooima

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Loved the trip to Passion Island.  Best day ever at the beach. Great customer service, plentiful food and drink.  The ship was older but well maintained.  It never felt crowded.  Friendly and competent staff all around.

The entertainment portion was a disappointment.  The shows were good and the older comedian was funny.  The pool area music and entertainment was practically non existent.  Recorded music with a steel drum accompaniment was tedious. The sound system in general needs improvement. The girls on the mike were usually screaming and it made it difficult to listen.  They lacked preparation and a solid program.
