Review summary

Overall, great value for the price. If you're a larger group that doesn't mind squeezing 4-5 people in a single room in order to save on cost, then this is the cruise for you. If instead you're the type of vacationer who would rather pay a little more money and have more conveniences, then you'd be better off booking on a newer boat and just booking 2 people to a room.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Perfect. Got on the ship very easily. Scheduled an early embarkation and beat the crowd.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Many great options included in the standard fare, and upgrade options were also available.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
This was an older boat, so the water park area for kids wasn't up to date, the casino didn't have all of the games I prefer (such as live action poker), and there was only 1 pool for the entire boat. But this isn't a complaint, but rather just an acknowledgement of "you get what you pay for" when we chose a smaller boat with a less expensive fare. For the price, this was still a great deal.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The entertainment was just ok. The comedians were pretty good, and the game shows were good, but the music/dancing shows were not very good. However, there was a cover band playing on the Promenade level every night that was excellent. They should've been given a shot to perform at the larger venue lounge one night instead of those choreographed singing/dancing shows.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Our teenagers loved these groups and hanging out with new friends they met on board.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent service from staff.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Excellent.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very nice. Small and cozy, but this was our choice to pay for a smaller cabin size.

Ship tip

Our family has 5 people, so we try to find boats that can fit 5 people in 1 room to save on costs. This is one of those boats. The only reason I'd recommend this boat is if you're trying to save on cost and can fit 4-5 in a room and you're the type of family who doesn't mind operating in small spaces to save on cost (which perfectly describes me and my family). Otherwise, I'd recommend booking on a newer ship.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

5 out of 5
Easy to operate.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Nice port, and we did an excursion that included Mayan Ruins and snorkeling.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Disembarkation was kind of a mess. The ship's crew instructed no one to congregate on Level 7 so that way we could disembark more effectively, but no one listened, and Floor 7 was flooded with people before it should have been, which made it chaotic. This is the fault of the passengers, not the crew, but the cruise line still may want to revisit its procedures since it's apparent that the passengers don't follow the simple instructions anyway.
