Review summary

This was our first cruise and possibly last. It wasn't all bad but no where close to how most people go on and on about it. This ship was old and small and it showed.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
No issues with embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The dining rooms etc were OK. Food variety was lacking.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Just one small watering hole of a pool where 200 people can be vying for a thimble of space.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
DJs were awesome. Rest of the shows were meh.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Staff was awesome!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
This is one of their oldest ships so take it for what its worth.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The cabin was OK. No complains about it.

Ship tip

Look for a bigger ship. This ship is one of their oldest and smallest.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

3 out of 5
No issues.

George Town, Grand Cayman

3 out of 5
Its a pain to take shuttle boats since there is no pier.

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
Grear port and place.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Too long a wait through customs. Only two officers to deal with more than 2000 people.

Sorry to hear you didn't have a great time! All of Carnival's ships decor is done by the area/time that it was built in. If find it quite enjoyable seeing the different decor's of the ship's! One word... Don't Give Up on Cruising! Their are lots of Cruise Lines out their, and one that I believe will be giving Carnival a Run for The Money is MSC! I've been on the Seaside and the Divina. Both are Very Beautiful ships, and I must say MSC is improving their image & food as they go! The entrainment on the Seaside was better! If you're going to give them a shot, join their travelers membership club first before booking! You'll get 5% off your first cruise with them!

Exactly don't write off all cruises because of one ship. Look at a larger ship largest ship have more to do. I know a lot of people look at their money when it comes to taking a cruise but if it's cheaper it doesn't always mean its better. Sometimes you may find a smaller ship and have lots of fun.

After my last cruise we were DONE with carnival. We leave in 3 days on royal and there is 20X more things to do on our ship I did a lot of research. Try a different cruise line.

Yes try a different size ship and different stops. Cruise vacations best bang for your buck.

I wouldn’t write off cruising based on one cruise on an older ship aimed at first time and budget conscious cruisers. A longer itinerary on a newer, larger ship may be a better experience for you.
