Review summary

The Ports of call were a great time; but would never do it again on the Carnival Paradise. First time on a Carnival cruise and very dissatisfied with the experience.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Check in was longer then most cruises I've taken but the take off party was fun. Muster station exercise was much longer then other cruises as well.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The ships dining rooms and restaurants are out dated you can tell the ship is old. The selection of food was ok, beer list was good.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The ship provided plenty of activities but most were repetitive after the first two days. The pool is extremely small and very out dated.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The music on board was good, there was a variety for everyone and themed around Cuba. The comedy show was good but not for everyone.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
We do not have kids but the ship seemed to have plenty of activities and areas for kids.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Service from the staff was good. Everyone was friendly but drink waiters seemed displeased if additional tips were not given. Overall everyone was ok.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Like I said the ship is old and out dated but the staff kept it clean. The flow of the ship seemed to make sense; nothing was "out of the way."

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
Again the ship is very out dated and showed in the cabins. The wall paper was coming off the wall, the A/C did not work properly and fans had to be brought to the room. No electrical outlets by the bed and some were even left broken. Some of our towels had holes in them. Definitely not worth the price!

Ship tip

Don't over pay to stay on the Paradise. If you get a good discounted price then go for it. Overall trip was not worth what we paid. If you are wanting to let loose, drink, lay out and sleep this is the ship. Overall nothing special except for the Cuba experience; and would not sail on the Paradise and maybe even carnival again.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

4 out of 5
Embarkment Port... easy access for entry and drop off. Everything went smooth.

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
Key West is always a great time; plenty to do here. Bars, food, beaches, water excursions and history to explore.

HAVANA, CUBA

5 out of 5
Havana Cuba was great to experience. The cultural and people were fun to interact with. Like everyone says the cars are very cool to see. The food, drinks and atmosphere were great. Definitely plan on going ASAP before it gets too Americanized and local prices rise!

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Customs was very easy and quick but the crew seemed very uninformed of the overall plan. Questions and directions could not be answered/given; overall poor experience.

My exact feelings batch 123

About the only thing that would ruin any cruise for me is hitting an ice berg, sailing into a sharknado, or being hit by a N Korean torpedo. As long as I have something cold in my hand with a piece of fruit and tiny umbrella sticking out of it, I'm good.

We have cruised on the Paradise 2 times & enjoyed ourselves. Sure, it's an older ship, but the food was delicious, we loved our suite & the shows were pretty good. We will definitely cruise on the Paradise again 💚🚢🍹🛳

ok good. We Live about 1.5 hours south of Tampa so it's convenient. Did Legend twice. Paradise twice too. Prefer the bigger/newer ones. Although We'll eventually do Paradise again. We had fun.

No, you are correct. we're bringing miracle over on the repo on January.

Maybe I was thinking Pride...not sure. But looking ahead there are Miracle cruises scheduled. I thought it was going to be a permanent relocation.

Pride left in March. That was my favorite.

It will be nice when the Carnival Miracle relocates to Tampa. Same class as Legend since it fits under the skyway bridge.

I've cruised on the Paradise two times and enjoyed it so much both times. When I cruised on this ship last time-it was smoke free, which was great since I have asthma/ bronchitis issues with smoke. Different strokes I guess.

There are limited ships that can sail out of Tampa due to the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Paradise is an old ship (it's scheduled to get the 2.0 upgrades)but small enough to fix under the bridge. Although your review is accurate, it's not a fair review based on an apples to apples comparison. Next time research your ship/port/vacation a little better and you'll be more aware of what to expect (or not to).

Overall experience, service, amenities, price plus the ship is out dated. The other cruise lines we've taken do cruising better.
