Review summary
While the Carnival staff were accommodating and friendly, we had booked this cruise primarily because of the itinerary that included a stop in the Cayman Islands. When Carnival changed the itinerary due to engine trouble with their ship (requiring the ship to travel at slower speeds), they compensated customers by giving a merely $25 per-person on-board credit. On top of that, the replacement stop (Costa Maya) turned into another day at sea when the ship could not dock at that location due to weather conditions. While we can't fault Carnival for weather conditions, we certainly fault them for problems with their own ship which required the cancellation of the original stop in Grand Cayman, and a very poor customer compensation. We'd be willing to bet that they saved more than what the credit cost them in lower fuel consumption. Also, the ship, especially the cabins, are very dated and worn. It was our first and last cruise with Carnival.

Ship tip
The Excursion with a Purpose (visiting church and orphanage in Cozumel) was excellent, and the highlight of the trip.

Technically Carnival does not have to give you any compensation at all, read the contract it's in there, so $25 is generous. I'm sailing April 29th on Paradise and our Key West stop was changed to Costa Maya. Disappointed at first, but now excited since for the main reason to cruise is the ship.
