Review summary

Cruise was not a bad none, ship is old and showing its age, if your looking for a lot of activity this not the ship. Carnival I would think should be thinking about retiring this ship from its great fleet.  Getting off ship on last day was horrible. First of all ship does not even arrive in port until 8 a,m. latest arrival in Home Port I have ever had on a Carnival ship. I am a Platnuim member and was sitting in Lounge assigned for self assist and members of this class of cruising. We did not exit the ship until 9:15 a.m. and we were first to leave. I heard many complaints about time and people who had to get to airport.

We just came off the Paradise on the 3rd. We boarded quickly & smoothly. disembarkation was also very smooth. On our last day we went for breakfast about 8:30. We were on Empress level. When we came into the corridor we laughed at all the people sitting there waiting to get off. I asked why everyone was sitting as notes were sent to all rooms & announcements were made that even though we would be in port at 8 we would not be allowed off the the ship until Port Authority cleared us. At least 9:00 a.m. They also gave the exact times for each zones. People do not understand those that REFUSE to follow directions are what holds up the problem. Our zone was called at 10:15 as stated and we were off & thru customs in 30 minutes.  Now on to the ship itself. We were a bit disappointed in the Paradise the 1st hour or so as we usually cruise their  newer ships. This ship worked for our time frame though. Yes it was missing a few things that were use to doing like the Dive in movies & water park but we had a great time. We could have sulked & pouted but that would be spiting ourselves. We joined in on the games & activities, loved the shows & comedians. Some days food was better than others but overall pretty good. The bathrooms are a little dated but bigger than the ones on the newer ships. There is no full vanity in them but the mirrored cabinet had 3 shelves which actually gives more room than the vanities. The rooms were very clean and Jose our steward was fantastic(Empress deck) Overall the staff was fantastic & very friendly. I do smoke and the only drawback I saw was the smoke from the casino filled the bar area where they did most of the trivia games so that is a pain to those that don't smoke. Ports were fantastic as usual. As this is only a 5 night cruise you see a lot of Floridians on board. It was generally pretty quiet at night. Your cruise is going to be what you make of it. Happy sailing everyone. It's the Breeze for me in February

I love how people that have never cruised on Carnival are the ones with the most negative comments.    I have Cruised Carnival and most of the major lines.  I have found service on CCL to be friendlier and better then other more expensive lines.  I have found CCL to have good food in the MDR and the buffet.

the comment of reheated food that sat for 24 hours is just..... well not intelligent.  With the # of people on the ship no food last long at the buffet.

If your vocal and criticizing a line you should have been on it !!!!!!!!  you do not look smart when you criticize what you do not know or have not tried.

they only were at Marriott while ship was being cleared by Coast Guard. They came and went on ship those few days and had full services of the ship as though they were at sea, plus $150 ship credit per person. Again, Google and read all the facts.

Yes Carnival had a small fire in ship and reported unlike other cruised who choose not to. They took great care of their passengers and everyone made it safely home. Google that!

Well devincmills I have been to a 4 Seasons that was in worse condition than a Ramada Inn. We who LOVE Carnival surely won't miss your kind. Other ships besides Carnival break down just like Cadillac's break down. Hope it happens to you sooner rather than later on one of those fancy ships. See if you get the great customer service Carnival gives. I highly doubt it

No devincmills that's not what i am saying. I have been cruising for almost 15 years-Disney(never again! to many little kids) , Norwegian-beautiful ships much older crowd, Princess -to many seniors-great for a very quiet week, Royal Caribbean to many people racking up their credit cards to be here. I actually enjoy Carnival. I have always had great service, very clean ships & love the people I've met.  I am a successful business owner & don't need to budget. Carnival is my CHOICE. Happy Cruising

I disagree devincmills. I have never had bad service or poor quality. For you to insinuate that was their meaning is wrong. The original comment kept referring to "their class" as though they are better than the other cruisers. In order to be a platinum member they've obviously cruised many times and should know the ins and outs. The itinerary states 8am arrival. Common sense tells me, who is not a platinum member" that it will be after 9ish until I'm disembarking. Take your $$ to one of those cruise lines. They'll definitely take it, before you even step in the ship

It sounds like someone just wants to complain. Port has to clear the ship to come in. If you are Platinum then you should be use to cruising and know all of this. I own my own business & never feel the need to state what level I am at. A bit snobbish if you ask me.  Switch to the Princess next time if you want to act that way. Carnival is for down to earth fun people- it has nothing to do with a "class of people" as you put it.

if I'm not mistaken, it clearly states on the itinerary that arrival back in Tampa is 8am. So how did this come as a shock or surprise. And I'm sorry that your "class" had to suffer. In order to be that "class" you obviously have cruised often and should know how it works and plan accordingly.

"I heard many complaints about time and people who had to get to airport.". Anyone that has sailed on a cruise knows you NEVER book an early flight on disembarkation day. Why? Because they know that there are too many scenarios that can come into play preventing an early disembarkation such as customs, port clearance, weather and people that have not closed (payed) off their onboard folios (accounts). So bad planning on their part does not constitute an emergency on the cruise lines part!!
