Review summary

Carnival's reputation for fun is well-deserved. Our entire family of 17 people have never had such a good all-around cruise experience. Thank you!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Very organized, but the wheelchair I reserved for my FIL was unavailable and we had to wait for one to take him up to the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Loved the pizza, taco and BBQ stands; some of the best we've ever had! I also liked the portion sizes at each meal because we were never too full to sample a variety of dishes and to enjoy every course. I HATE to waste food, so I liked that portions were not too big so I could finish nearly all my meals.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Fitness center, jogging deck, SkyRide, ropes course. Loved them all and REALLY appreciate that these were all available free of charge! The SkyRide was especially great because it gave a really unique view of the ship and surroundings.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Playlist performers, New Age violins, and trivia games with the Fun Crew were all excellent and really enjoyable! Did not find the comedians to be very funny; the cruise director, Rainier, was funnier at Love & Marriage event!

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
Not much variety in Club Ocean for my 11-year-olds, but it was wonderful knowing they were safe and cared for when I was onshore.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward, Nino, learned our names and left kind messages each day on our mirror. He greeted us every time we saw him, and we OFTEN saw him. He was always hard at work! His encouragement came at a time when my husband was injured and lifted our spirits immensely! Also, we LOVED our servers at Horizon restaurant; shout out to Nyoman, Souchada and Sarah(?). They remembered our preferences, had a fun, positive energy every night, and delighted our entire family of 8 adults and 9 teenagers. They deserve kudos for their friendliness and patience with our large, loud group.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
There are several germophobes in our party, and I never heard them complain, so that's proof to me that the ship was very clean and well-maintained. Layout was good; my injured husband didn't have any issues moving around.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Comfortable beds, clean bathroom and closet. Enough space for storage of our belongings while we were onboard. Would have appreciated a way to turn on ventilation system in the cabins, outlet/USB near the nightstands so we could charge our phones while lying in bed.

Ship tip

There is a LOT to see and do! Explore every deck on your first day so you don't miss anything. We did not do this, and almost missed the SkyRide, Adults-only lounge and several other fun spaces.

Ports of call

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

4 out of 5
Various members of our group did a kayak and snorkel excursion, Zipline and ATV. Beach was beautiful and the excursions were fun, but it was SOOOO hot!

Ensenada, Mexico

4 out of 5
Took a taxi to La Bufadora and the shops there. Items were overpriced, but the food (fish tacos, pina coladas, churros) was EXCELLENT!

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Similar to embarkation: very organized, but the requested wheelchair for my FIL was unavailable. He opted to walk instead of waiting for it, and ended up collapsing in the security building :(
