Review summary

This was our first cruise, but definitely not our last! We had such a nice time, despite the weather. The crew and staff were all so friendly and professional, and went out of their way to make sure everyone was well cared for!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Overall, the embarkation experience was good. However, the one issue that affect many of us was the mixed directions when it came to parking. There were signs saying to go one way, there was a staff member who said to go another direction (across the Long Beach bay). I highly recommend to anyone reading this post (who is driving and parking their vehicle) to arrive 45 mins prior to your arrive assigned check-in time. Outside of this issue, the rest was fairly straight forward and easy. Just remember to have your IDs, passports, etc... !

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
There was such a wonderful variety of snacks, dishes, etc... For the price that we're paying for room and all-inclusive food, it was a delicious!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Unfortunately, one of our port calls was canceled due to very choppy seas, so I thought it was great how the Carnival staff was well prepared to have additional activities setup for such contingencies. I only took part in the fitness center and bingo. Both were great! I enjoyed the gym very much, especially since it was not crowded what so ever. The gym is located at the 9th deck, at the forward end which allow us to have an amazing view and we tried to wear off the lbs that we add from all the wonderful food!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I must admit that the entertainment was one if not the highlight to our experience. As I mentioned earlier, we had choppy seas, so we relied heavy on the entertainers to keep us occupied, and believe me, they did not disappoint! Felipe (entertainment directory) was all over the ship, and his energetic personality helped motivate the ensure ship! There was so many musicians, performers and shows that I'm afraid that I'm naming all or doing justice to give credit to all the hard working folks who really did an amazing job. The 80s style music concerts really stood out and one of the highlights. I do want to give a special mentioning and recognition to Gemini band. The did a great job, and was nice to hear that they were getting married in the near future! The overall highlight, and to be honest main band that we loved to listen to was the Alterr Jam band! Not only did they sing their hearts out, but they were spot on playing and singing the vast genre of different types of music (mostly classic rock), but they were also very friendly with the audience which made everyone come together (audience and band) and feel like friends at the end of the cruise. I cannot speak highly enough of this band and would book another cruise only to know that they would be on the ship!! Thank you Gerald, Sonny, Mario, Lito, and the very lovely(!!) Angel!

Children's Programs

My kids enjoyed other activities that they did not participate in children's programs.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service and staff were terrific! A special thank you to Ketut, our steward, was always professional, courteous, and friendly. Another person we want to give special thanks to was our dinning server Jvoti! She was so friendly and professional, and bent over backwards to make sure that we had everything we needed for our dinning experience.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The was well designed and clean. It reminded me of a nice Las Vegas report, but with added perks!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was always very nice and clean, and made a point for our first cruise to have a balcony. Since we spent very little time in the room, it was ideal for sleeping, but overall it was smaller than I expected. I think that this is just me and that I need to get used to the general size of the rooms.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

Catalina Island, California

We did not get to see Catalina due to poor weather and bad sea conditions.

Ensenada, Mexico

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was quick and efficient, which I believe anyone would want. However, since I enjoyed myself so much while on the cruise, I wished for delays only so that I could stay longer onboard! I definitely had a blast and will repeat again! ... probably with a different destination for variety sake!

Great information

I’ve been seeing lots of people saying that there are drug dogs at all the ports. We’re there some at Long Beach? Did they catch anyone trying to smuggle pot or speakers onboard?
