Review summary

This cruise was an experiment to interest my brother and his wife to cruising. We chose Carnival for the price. I think they enjoyed themselves and will venture to cruise again.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Ground personnel could have given better directions.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was better than expected. The dining room was great. The buffet was way too spread out. To only have Horatio's open on embarkation day was ridiculous. The other free dining restaurants should have been open. We had to wait almost a half hour to get a table. All we needed was a spot for 4. Almost got into a scuffle for a table. It was so crowded that one could hardly navigate their way around. That was not kosher.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Took advantage of several onboard activities. Loved the trivia and the gameshows.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The comedians were acceptable but the large theater shows were lacking in diversity. The performers were good but the variety was geared to those who enjoy very loud music and shouting passing as singing.

Children's Programs

No kids.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The service and staff were good. Our room steward was great. Only problem was the sea day brunch. It took 20 minutes to get a waiter to our table. The place had very few diners and I thought it was very rude. Ignoring diners so you can set up for dinner is not right.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The design was okay. Cleanliness was very good. The ceilings on this ship are quite low.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
My cabin number is incorrect. We stayed in 1787. Our staff person was wonderful.

The ship to shore transportation was clumsily accomplished. The tenders (4 of them) were at the mercy of ship personnel. You don't make those boarding a tender wait for more passengers if another tender is sitting in open water waiting to dock - dumb. Those ship personnel in charge of letting the tenders leave was an idiot. We sat in open water for 10 minutes so we could get to the ship. There were two tenders loading and 2 waiting. Not very good coordination. Several cruisers got sick bobbing up and down and side to side on the tenders. That needed lots of training and work. I have been on six different cruise lines and never experienced such a cockup of coordination. First and possibly last cruise with Carnival. This was NOT acceptable.

Disembarkation

The unloading and customs was very easy and quick. The bus to the parking structure was quick to leave.
