This was our first experience back to cruising since the arrival of COVID. San Francisco is a great port to cruise from. The terminal is large and very accessible. We were pleased with the level of cleanliness aboard the ship. There were many activities to choose from and it was just as easy to just sit and relax on the deck or in one of the many venues. The food was average, but there were some exceptional choices. Ensenada was the only port of call on this cruise. There are many choices of shore excursions or one can just walk to town from the port. We would definitely cruise on the Miracle again.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
The cruise terminal is convenient to access with public transportation. All documents were checked at the door. We got in line at our scheduled time and it took only a few minutes to complete the process. We used the Verifly app and we had paper copies of needed documents as well. The staff at the terminal was professional and helpful. Masks were distributed before entering the terminal as wearing a mask was a requirement in the terminal.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We especially enjoyed Guy Fieri hamburgers and the made from scratch pizza. The Blue Iguana restaurant features tortillas that are made on the spot. The main dining room had a variety of choices plus some standard fare that was available every night. There was also an ability to order "steakhouse specials" i.e. steak and lobster for an additional fee. The main dining room was open for dinner daily. There was a brunch served on sea days and a breakfast served on port days. There was not a dedicated lunch seating on this four day cruise. The Carnival Hub app made it easy to reserve a table whenever we chose to eat in the Main dining room. We were seated in the same area and thus we were able to establish a connection with our waiter and servers.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We enjoyed the Adults only Serenity pool area. There is a bar in this space as well as towel and blanket service. The fitness center had a variety of machines that were clean and well maintained. One needed to walk through the spa area in order to reach the fitness center. Lots of activities to participate in throughout the day until the wee hours of the morning- Bingo, trivia, art auctions, sports bar, wellness classes, spa treatments, shopping, arcades, deck parties, etc.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Live music throughout the ship was a highlight of the cruise. The stage shows were energetic and lively. The performers were very talented. Piano bar was fantastic.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The service on the ship was fantastic. Our room steward did an amazing job. The waiters offered detailed information on the entrees listed to help us make choices. All food was delivered in a timely manner despite the crowd. The steward and waiters made it a point to remember our names and greeted us in a friendly manner upon arrival and departure. The workers in the buffet area were helpful in locating specific items as well as keeping it all clean.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was an eclectic mix of designs. Evidently the theme depicted different types of heroes. The result was a disjointed feel in the different types of decor. We had no problem navigating the areas of the boat. The common areas were very clean and well maintained despite the age of the boat.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The size of the room was just fine for two passengers. The king size bed took up the majority of the space. There was a flat screen TV, safe, refrigerator in one corner. The other side of the room had a lighted mirror, desk area and a stool to sit on. The carpet was stained but otherwise clean. The bath facility was dated but kept shiny by the room steward. At one point, there was a sewer problem, but that was repaired in a timely manner.
The inside cabin had a good location near the stairs/elevator and the room was quiet. This was definitely a budget room and we paid a budget price. This room was a great value for a four day cruise.
Ship tip
The Carnival Cruise app is the best way to navigate your experience on the ship. Be sure to bring clothing that can be layered as the temperatures on the cruise itinerary vary greatly. Don't miss the great entertainment!
