It would have been nice if I were to try a newer Carnival ship as my first cruise with the line. After trying NCL multiple times and Royal, id have to say Carnival is at the bottom low tier of the cruise lines. People say it’s the Walmart of cruising, but I didn’t get much value with my rate. The crowd out of SF going into Mexico was kind of ghetto, ratchet. It was also the experience, from roach on my balcony to bartenders at the serenity bar asking if I were going to tip, to broken down double decker bus in Mexico during my excursion. Id have to say over all it was a hood rat time. But I went into it with low expectations and knew what I was getting into.

There were a lot of new workers at the SF port, a lot of them had to reconfirm everything and check all of my documents at every stop. Super annoying but did not wait long to get in.

MDR- The breakfast in the MDR was disgusting, which is sad because its hard to mess up eggs. A majority of the dinner items were fair and tasty. Some were dry and bland.
Lido buffet: disgusting
Nick & Noras: Good fine dining experience but may not be worth the extra charge. It was good.
Guys Burgers: Good when prepared hot and fresh
Pizza: The fresh pizza is the best thing on the ship
Blue Iguana: Fish taco is decent, the rest of it is gross. Did not try breakfast egg burrito.
Onboard Activities

Only 3 hot tubs and they were overcrowded. Literally 10 people in 1 hot tub.
Entertainment

I only got to catch Sally Ann, comedian and she was awful. Played almost every night and was the only comedian on board. LOL
Service and Staff

Overworked. In other lines, crew members will sometimes roll out the red carpet for you and have conversation with you, remember your name, and what you eat. There was less than a handful of staff who did that. I feel like a lot of the workers were not happy, almost miserable and I felt sorry for them. I’m thinking Carnival doesn’t treat their staff well or pay them enough. Or they are just sick of the ratchet crowd they have to deal with cruise after cruise.
Cabin / Stateroom

Ship was built in 2003, but it looks like its from 1990.
My steward, Viktor was nice, attentive but acted less enthusiastic and down after I had reported my broken balcony door lock and roach in the balcony floor to guest services.
Ship tip
If this is your first time cruising, go with a another line and a newer ship. This cruise is not worth it and clearly has issues with stabilizers.
Literally one of the saddest ports I’ve ever been to. If you want to be harassed, robbed or ripped off. Go to Ensenada. Also, there is literally nothing there other than pharmacies, fish tacos and people trying to sell you street drugs.
Going on this ship the miracle, June 2023 to Alaska. How do you post a question about a certain cruise? Was trying to find out some information on the train tour out of Skagway alaska.
Will be on the Miracle in 9 days.I dont expect a lot( just got off the Wonder a month ago)but I still love being on the ocean on a cruise.You can't compare the Miracle to the newer ships you've been on they don't compare.Sorry it wasn't as fun.
Unfortunately it seems like the Miracle does have a problem in the food section, according to other recent reviews. I agree, the bigger and newer ships are, to me, better in many respects (only a sample of three ships and four cruises).
