Taking pretty much close to 40 cruises by this week going on I think number 41 Easter Sunday. Very disappointed with this Carnival Cruise have been a carnival cruiser since before the 90s. We might be upping our game now the ship was very uncapped and the food was very bad. After paying thousands of dollars we heard that it was pretty much a gambling Cruise were they offered pass gamblers $195 total for a cabin per person we were very disappointed as we had saved for this cruise for a couple of years before the pandemic and we were offered no specials not even a bottle of wine in our room after being a VIP carnival member for many years we were very 100% totally disappointed in this cruise we will never go on another carnival all ship again the only thing we have in our future is a back to back on the panorama which we did two years ago the first month it was sailing and then immediately the cruises stopped ..
Embarkation
1 out of 5
2 1/2 hours waiting in a very hot warehouse with no place to sit and lots and lots of winding lines. Very uncomfortable to many people not enough employees helping you out. And then a quick Covid test again after the 48 hour one we just took an another 30 minutes waiting in line for those results absolutely ridiculous and no warning of all of this.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Dinner in the main dining room was really nasty no presentation at all for the food it’s look like they were just slap the food on your plate and put it in front of you. Mashed potatoes tasted like glue vegetables were very over cooked. Meat was well overdone salmon was also well overdone for all my meals. Drinks were OK as usual because that’s where they make their money but I can’t say much about the food. The Lido had the same thing pretty much all the time and you had to serve yourself and the serving utensils were very nasty every time I went to the Lido which was about five out of 14 days I asked for clean utensils because they were so gummy from all the food that other peoples hand had touched. Lots of employees standing around behind the food Lido area but no one offered to help serve you it was do it yourself and with Covid still in the air we found that very unacceptable.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Did not participate in any of the outdoor activities too many people on the ship it was supposed to be 60 to 70% capacity but from what we heard it was full capacity even before CDC allowed it. But that’s what you get from carnival. They are always pushing the envelope.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Shows were not good at all went to four nights of entertainment and they were really not even worth staying we left before anyone got finished. We found that this particular carnival ship had really gone downhill. The miracle is an old ship and needs to be dry docked and given away to the scrap yard. For paying lots and lots of money for a 14 day Hawaii cruise you think they would’ve really stepped up their game a little bit it was the first cruise to Hawaii since the Covid restart. But I think they were just interested in getting money from all the gamblers that they laid on board for $195 each . Totally ruined our vacation when we heard that.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Service in the dining room was really downhill but after complaining a couple of times the head waiter came over and moved us to the table for open seating where we had an excellent waiter who had been with the company for 15 years he explain to us in private that most of the crewmembers were very new and they were down to 50% capacity for crewmembers. But still a poor excuse since we paid thousands of dollars for this cruise.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
We had an extended balcony cruise which was 50% full of rust the two lounge chairs on our balcony were brand new but the table was old and rusty and a little rickety. Not very happy at all ..the extended balcony size was nice but that’s all I can say about that.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
I do have to say that carnival has a bigger cruise cabins than most other ships we’ve been on. But both lamps in our room on our nightstands had passed Burt marks on them. And only one actual outlet with two sockets in it in the entire cabin very hard to deal with since we have to have extra equipment for our health. Bathroom sink had rust around the drain and rust actually around the sink border. I think this could’ve been dealt with while the ships were not in service for two years. Rest was all over the door frame of the patio sliding door I had to ask our Stewart to clean it it was very nasty to look at.
Ship tip
Don’t book a cruise on the miracle you will be very disappointed better to stay on a new cleanership like the panorama for instance still sailing out of California for the last six months since the restart. We were on it the first month it came to California and we had an excellent forage and an excellent time. Hoping to have that time again when we stay up up on the Panorama again September 2023 for a back to back Mexico voyage
Didn’t do an excursion on this port didn’t have the money for it and didn’t trust the Covid so we just took a private taxi over to the military hotel and shopped around there we are U.S. Navy veterans and it was something that we thought was extremely safe for us to do. Plus all the prices in the shopping area there are about 50% off what they are on the outside. So we saved quite a bit. And they have their own private beach totally safe and beautiful grounds to walk around and enjoy the gardens.
Did not do an excursion again in this port very disappointed that we park so far from town that you had to pay five to $10 to get anywhere industrial ports are not very good for cruise ships to park yet. Last time we were here on a Hawaiian cruise we were able to get off and immediately do fun things on our own this time you had to take paid transportation everywhere you go on a cruise line did not offer you any kind of a free optional shuttle
Pretty easy to take the tenders in and walk around the little town for a couple hours and get back in the line for hour and a half to reward the tenders.
Did not get off at this port again we live in Southern California so getting off at this port is totally worthless. I really wish that the Cruise Lines would pick a better port to do there one day Jones act stop over. Again stopping way out in the industrial area of this port you have to pay to get into town it’s a shame because they should give you a free shuttle from the cruise line to get into any port knowing when you’re in a port you definitely will be spending money and helping the economy. But no such thing this time on the carnival miracle Cruise
Pretty simple on and off show your picture stand in front of the camera so that they can make your passport picture compared to your old self very easy off back in LA
Why would learning that others got a great deal upset you? As long as you were happy with the price when you agreed to it, then if someone else paid more or less, it shouldn't affect you.
Hmmm, maybe you should avoid cruising for the next 2-5 years until things get back to what you expect and can handle. Although I suspect that may not be enough time to get Covid down to a negligible issue. I do wonder that you apparently did not get a bunch of OBC for not canceling, I know that Carnival offerings were over $1000 on the Mexican Riviera when we canceled a year ago (hated to give that up but needed the $).
