Review summary

I had an ok time. It was frustrating when I wasn’t given the right information before coming to this trip. I call carnival before I left and they would not help but told me to talk to my travel agent which was . I called about Covid testing and about my exemption letters and was given info wrong. I had to pay 150 Covid test fee because carnival said we took test too early. I called about this and told me wrong info and didn’t want to pay the fee when I told them about it. Just a 50 coupon for my next cruise with them. Also my kids were not vaccinated because too young and we did the exemption letters and was told my kids couldn’t leave the ship. It was not told me that we couldn’t enjoy off the ship even with the letters. Then the kids areas were close and no one told me before we came that my kids couldn’t have fun. Communication needs to be given righty when booking trough a third party on a cruise ship. No is offering some money back from these issues either when we paid for was to have kid activities and go to other islands. No great customer service on both ends. I have called and emailed on these issues and these companies are just apologizing and not doing anything.

I had to take a Covid test again because I was told that I took it too early. Charge 150 for it. Also, When I got off the ship a guy who work for the port was rude about getting my ID out for me and my kids saying I was going to hold up the line. I had my hands full and two kids to keep an eye on.

Catalina Island, California Did not visit port

I couldn’t get off cause my kids were not vaccinated and I wasn’t info before I got on that they couldn’t get off.

Ensenada, Mexico Did not visit port

I couldn’t get off cause my kids were not vaccinated and I wasn’t info before I got on that they couldn’t get off

All of these issues are CLEARLY spelled out on Carnival’s website under their HAVE FUN,BE SAFE policy. Your travel agent sucks!

Sorry to hear your Travel Agent was so poor at his or her job. And if you would be brave enought to share the name of the agency that caused your expensive disappointment that others here can avoid their ineptitude. When you book though a 3rd party agency your contract is with them and they are the ones responsible to inform you or direct you to where pertinent information can be located, not the cruise line nor resort. Since your direct contract is through the TA, the cruise line or resort will not deal directly with your booking/reservation until you are physically on their property. At this point the best you can do is file for a small claims settlement in the court system for the town/county the TA office is physically located n and make a report to the Better Business Bureau.

All the information you say you didn’t know is clearly stated on the web site. We had to agree to these protocols before receiving our boarding pass for the Carnival Horizon in October, surprised you didn’t. If you have a TA , they should have kept you informed. Sorry you didn’t know and therefore didn’t enjoy your cruise!

Thanks for the update, I recommend using a independent TA, they work for you and get the answers

If you had looked into cruising at all you would have seen this Information- kids camps closed due to covid, unvaxxed passengers not allowed off ship, nor are their parents, covid tests need to be taken within 48 hours of boarding time otherwise you have to test at the post at your expense. No one wants to touch other people stuff right now, so to ask them to get your ID out is almost like asking them to cover your mouth while you cough.

Should have said plainly posted online (autocorrect added not for some reason).

Thanks for the review. The Covid testing requirements are not plainly posted on the Carnival website and also included in boarding documents email sent to all passengers. I would never trust information received from Customer Service at any cruise line currently. The information changes often and they have been shown to give incorrect information since Covid started.
