Review summary

Life boat drill was terrible had to wait over an hour for about 20 familys that never did show up. Muster station D was all there but the would not start the drill. Disembarkation was worse we were told to assemble in the dining room when we were allowed to leave and walk up the outside deck behind everyone was leaving forward of us, Platinum meant nothing, in the terminal the security guard made us wait in the elevator line behind all the wheel chairs we only had a small carry bag. I will never Sail Tampa Again....

I have sailed out of Tampa Many times on Royal Caribbean, Carnival and soon Norwegian. Carnival took longer to board but all but one were Christmas cruises and the ships were sold out, so I attributed the extra wait time and long lines to that. Most recently I sailed out of Tampa last January on RCI at Pier 6 and boarding was super smooth. I was onboard and having lunch within 15 minutes of entering the terminal. Tampa is one of my favorite ports but you are limited on class of ship because the larger ships won't clear the bridge entering or leaving the bay. I usually will use Port Canaveral when I want to check out one of the newer "Mega Ships" but that being said I find the smaller class ships easier to navigate. Don't rule out Tampa as a Port of embarkation!!

In Feb we got off a Ncl ship in Tampa and had no problems. We also had no problems with getting of Royal Caribbean in Dec. Maybe Carnival is the problem not Tampa

Unfortunately I had a similar experience with Carnival Legend last April. Their disembarkation process was one of the worst and long winded l have ever gone through.
