Review summary

We are one trip away from platinum on Carnival, as well as using other lines. We have noticed a down sliding in the quality of the experience on Carnival. The Buffet food is the same, and gets boring. There are very few of the fun line dance. hairy chest types of experiences at the pools. The bars have fewer bartenders. All the service people try very hard, but if they are not given quality materials, they can't create a marvelous experience for the travelers.

We also are working on getting platinum. We use other lines due to the repetitive activities/food on carnival. I would absolutely agree with what you have stated. The past two trips were the first time we got off the ship knowing we would be eating breakfast & lunch on land to enjoy something different! I noticed with the guests favorite entertainment the past few years has been in the comedy club. We always make a point of joining in on that. We try to shake up our days by joining in the bingo, salute to our military and the farewell party. We have gone to the nightclub and fallen in love with the piano bar. We find a great bartender on day one and stick with them the whole cruise. Tipping our dining staff and room steward the first day has also made a huge difference. We stay on decks that have fewer rooms or are close to the entertainment. Have some backup alcohol in your cabin Incase you do get a bad drink and need to spruce it up! We live in California so it is so easy and affordable to use Carnival vs. flying to other ports. We took a break in 2010 when we were truly sick of the food & shows. When we go now we force ourselves to try something new so we aren’t disappointed during this “low” they seem to be experiencing again. We even sat at a table with other people on our last cruise!!! The staff is does try hard & I know Carnival’s mediocre consistency is part of the game. If you get a chance to speak with the cruise director I bet they would bend over backwards to help.
