Sail date: June 15, 2011

Ship: Carnival Miracle

Cabin type: Balcony

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

This ship is in need of a stay in dry dock for a new paint job. There were also several locations inside the ship where the paint was badly peeled or worn, particularly in Horatio's eating area. We had a balcony room, and when we got there the glass on the balcony was very salt stained and just dirty in general. At one of the ports, we got a flier that said we could not use our balcony during certain times for cleaning, but they looked the same after they were done except for a new stream of murkey water in the gutter-type thing around the bottom.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
During lunch times there were ALWAYS long lines and no tables to sit at. There were times we took our food back to our room simple for lack of anywhere else to sit!

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We had a great time at the comedy shows and "showtime" events. There were some other things that I would have been more upset about if I had kids, for example, they had a rather racy "hairy chest" competition by the main pool at mid day. I thought it was just gross.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
I do not have kids, but it seemed like there was always things for them to do. If anything, this cruise was almost too family oriented for us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The ships staff was great. We had a bilinking light in our room upon arrival and they showed up in minutes to replace it. We never had a request that was not met.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
As previously noted, paint jobs and a good scrub down would do this ship some good! Also, there were some things that were just sloppy, like the lacquer that was use on the railings had drips on some of the metal parts.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The "couch" in our room was plastic, making it not very comfortable, and it was also very worn. Our balcony was very dirty, even after they took a port day to clean all the balconies.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Nassau was not what we expected. We got in at 7am and nothing was open. There were steel straps across businesses doors and windows as we walked to the zoo, which was a little scary. We didn't run into any trouble though and we had the zoo all to ourselves at 9am because none of the tours came in until around 10am. We did not go to the beach here because the ones we passed were not nearly as nice as Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk.
Don't Miss: The Zoo, Shopping.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
Half Moon was an excellent beach day. There was a great beach and a BBQ... what more do you need?

Grand Turk Island

3 out of 5
Grand Turk had a good beach and the snorkling tour we took was great. The places they took us had tons of different marine critters, including sting rays!
Don't Miss: Snorkling!!

Pros: Great friendly staff

Cons: Not enough seating for buffets. Not enough meal options outside of formal dining room. Lack of pools and pool side seating.
