Review summary

We had a group of 15 people and all had a good time. I was very disappointed about the reroute due to tropical storm but understood the safety aspect. It would have been nice if they had offered some credit or other incentives due to reroute. I was also unhappy with the prices they charged for photos. In a previous cruise on Carnival we were able to buy the digital package and get all our pics but this cruise did not offer that. They had a digital package for an absurd amount and it did not include all your photos, you had to pick an X number of photos.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation from Norfolk VA was very hectic. Overall the experience was not terrible

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food in the dining room was good. The buffet lines were ridiculous and the food was meh.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The pool was small and extremely crowded.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Entertainment was ok. Some of the comedians were better than others.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The wait staff in the dining room was good. The room steward I had was not so good. I had to ask for things more than once.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Overall ship design and cleanliness was good.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
My cabin was good. The balcony had some rusty pipes but overall it was still nice.

Ship tip

Overall it's a good ship, not huge but not too small

Ports of call

Norfolk, Virginia

2 out of 5
This port is way too busy

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

2 out of 5
We were rerouted due to tropic storm. Very disappointed I missed visiting Amber Cove

Grand Turk Island

2 out of 5
We were rerouted due to tropic storm. Very disappointed I missed Grand Turk Island.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Disembarkation was ok. Seemed a little chaotic and the ship shut off water in the bathrooms on Lido deck (which was gross).

Thanks for sharing; those are perils for traveling during hurricane season. Best of cruising luck on your next voyage.

It would be nice to get compensation BUT not going to happen. When cruising especially during hurricane season, it is a common occurrence to have itinery changes. According to the Cruise Cancellation and Itinery Change policy, there will be no compensation for missed ports, beyond a refund of any pre-purchased Carnival shore excursions and the taxes, fees and port expenses paid for the cancelled port. Thank you for your review.

Leaving a bad rating in two places because you didn’t stop there. Real helpful.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise despite the reroute. Thanks for sharing.

Glad you and everyone in your group enjoyed the cruise except for missing ports. Maybe book another cruise during a different time to see the ports you missed? Thank you for sharing your experience.

She said she understood the safety aspect of the reroute. I don't think she should be chastised for feeling disappointed. I'd be too. Yes it's a chance to take cruising during hurricane season, but you can still feel disappointed when things get switched around due to a storm. Give her a break.

You booked a cruise during hurricane session and are disappointed that they safely rerouted the cruise?
