Carnival Magic

6 Night Eastern Caribbean (Port Canaveral Roundtrip)

Sail date: January 23, 2022

Ship: Carnival Magic

Traveled as: Couple

Reviewed: 2 years ago

Review summary

During our cruise the ship was only about 45% capacity which was nice, but that also meant the staff was not at full capacity. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and had a great time.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
When very smoothly from entering and screening to stepping on the ship. I believe in total the whole process was about 1.5 hours from our arrival appointment.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining hall was amazing, from the food to the staff. Breakfast and lunch were a bit reduced from what I remember of our first cruise. I believe with staff and guests back to 100% booked, everything with slowly transition back to normal.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We make it a point to attend various shows, games, parties, or whatever sounds interesting. There was no shortage of fun to be had be all.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Simon London was the cruise director, and wow did he meet and exceed our expectations. He was full of energy from morning through the night and seemed to be everywhere. Steven Michael Quezada (Steven Gomez from Breaking Bad) was one of the comedians and he did not disappoint.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Like always, top notch.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Staff was constantly cleaning and sanitizing from bow to aft, port to starboard.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5

Ports of call

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Went on a private tour to Puerto Plata where we did a rum tour, cigar factory, Fortaleza de San Felipe, and shopping.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
Great day relaxing on the beach and enjoying the water. Played a game of musical towels and I was victorious, earning myself solid gold carnival ship trophy.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Under staffed and some difficulties with scanners made the process a bit slower, but nothing I can complain about.
