Embarkation was a breeze! We were boarding group A07 (arrival between 10:30 & 11:00AM). We arrived at the terminal at around 10:20 because we weren’t sure how long it would take to get from the hotel to the terminal. They let us in early and we walked right in, checked in and had a seat within minutes. They began boarding groups at 11:00. We were on the boat by 11:11. It was super easy! Also - the new muster process was fast and simple! We went to our muster station and watched a member of the crew put on a life jacket. That was it!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We ate in the dining room (your time dining) two nights and we enjoyed sea day brunch in the dining the room. The food was good and there was good variety. The servers always enhance the experience in the dining rooms. They are always so warm and friendly!
The lido buffet was good - but there isn’t much variety from day to day. We aren’t hard to please when it comes to food but we did get tired of the same things on repeat after a few days.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We enjoyed the wide variety of shows, games, concerts, movies, etc. on the boat. Gary, the cruise director, is our FAVORITE! We sailed with him twice on the Ecstasy, and he did not disappoint this time on the Magic. The entertainment staff is so talented and engaging.
The only reason for four vs five stars is due to the lacking entertainment in the atrium area. On the Ecstasy and Sunshine, the atrium is a central hub of fun and entertainment. Everyone flocks to this area at night for sing-alongs and post-show-parties. The nightly entertainment created a feeling of community among the boat. This was not the case on the Magic. I’m not sure if it’s due to the ship floor plan or COVID restrictions (avoiding crowds), but there was nothing to do in the atrium but have a drink at the bar and listen to a violin group (not our personal cup of tea - but others seemed to enjoy it,)
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
As always, the service and staff were second to none! Everyone is so friendly, warm and helpful. The cleanliness of the ship is amazing!
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We were in a spa balcony on 11. We loved the location (close to the lido and close to the spa/gym). We did feel that the “king” bed was not actually a king. It felt very small for a king.
Our steward, Adi, was so friendly and helpful! He brought us a fan for the room and a lighter blanket for the bed.
Ship tip
If you need a king size bed, be sure to confirm the size for your specific room. Our bed was not a true king - which has never happened before. Maybe this is the case in all spa balcony rooms?
Disembarkation was a breeze! We carried our own bags off and we filed right off the ship without delay. They call parties to disembark by muster station, which means the process is orderly and speedy. No long lines or hassles. We were off the boat and through customs within 10 minutes at the most.
I think “king” in this instance is a generic term. You can choose to have your room made up with the 2 individual beds, or combined to make one large bed. Definitely not a king in actual dimensions, just the difference between 2 beds or 1.
