Review summary

Loved it and will cruise her again!!! However I hope she is updated with the smell situation by then and the air conditioning! We had both a teenager and 6 yr old plenty to do. My honest review sorry if some don’t agree. These are the kind if things I looked for before my cruise so I am being honest.

Embarkation

Arrived early and with no line boarded no problems.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main Dining room had the best food by far. Buffet and specialty eating lacked a lot in my opinion and the meat was always undercooked. They should have a place for rare and well done for young children. Wouldn’t want them eating raw burgers! I don’t eat fancy food, so it should have been easy to please my taste buds. I don’t drink alcohol a lot but I can say the drinks are very weak but enjoyed the rum runners from red frog pub

Onboard Activities

Plenty to do however if your looking for a fair contest and Simon is involved you need to have cash to pay him off. I saw 2 occasions where he unfairly and wrongly picked winners. At times the crowd was upset and yelled this is fixed and not fair. The hasbro game show the first contestant walked right up on stage BEFORE it even started. The crew came over and told her no not yet. (If your chosen randomly then how did she know to go up on stage?) then he proceeded to pick 2 of the family members on 2 out of 3 games! Was disappointed with his fairness but he was very involved on the ship and fun. The big slides hurt going down. You feel every spot the pieces connect. Bingo was fun, shows were good, Dr Suess events, trivia, scavenger hunts, balloon drop, lots to do but in my HONEST opinion favors diamond and platinum guests with results.

Entertainment

Good shows

Children's Programs

He only went 1 day and was ready to go upon checking on him. Nice staff though! The teenage clubs need better supervision outside the club doors. Lot of vandalism, running, cursing, and pushing going on trying to get to late dining at night. Never saw anyone addressing this from the crew.

Service and Staff

Arnold and his 2 assistance in Main Dining in southern lights was AMAZING!!! My grandson wanted to get his number so he could come visit lol. Very kind, helpful, they love the children on board!!!!! He was the best part of our cruise!!!

Ship Quality

Crew always cleaning but definitely needs some updating. My grandson was able to tell me how to get around do must be pretty easy layout!

Cabin / Stateroom

Was very surprised and happy with how much bigger the cabin was. David was good at keeping cabin clean and things we needed. Enough room for 4 adult if you bring the over the door shoe rack! We were comfortable

Ship tip

Have fun. Be prepared to not see it all lol. Bring air freshener because no matter how many ppl say it doesn’t the ship DOES smell everywhere! The cruise is still what you make of it and I would not have gotten off if I didn’t have to lol!!!!!!

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

As everyone says. It’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. I was worried the tender boat would be much smaller and rocky but it was larger in size and smooth sailing. Loved this port 💕

Grand Turk Island

Beach and water too rocky even with water shoes. No excursion. The clam shells for shade were very nice. It came a thunderstorm after about 45 minutes off ship so we didn’t get to venture out to see much else.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

Very pretty port with lots of places to shop. It is expensive though. The pools, and scenery are beautiful. Honestly though my grandson and I walked around the immediate tourist area then went back on magic to enjoy a smaller crowd. My daughter did the waterfall excursion and said it was the best thing she has ever done. Saw the country in a tour bus and felt safe. My nieces loved the water slides and pools. Rained again here at the end but was still nice!!!!

My wife and I have been on the magic twice and only smelled something once. It smelled like paint thinner and that was the second cruise the first day. Never smelled anything again

Yes if was pretty much all over with the odor. Deck 7 where we were was pretty bad. The lido buffet was bad even over the food smell. The souther lights dining room. Pretty much everywhere but outside and then at times you could smell something.

Glad you had a good cruise. We have been on the Magic a couple of times and loved it. It's been a year since the last time. Did not experience any order at that time. Hope they have taken care of that.

I’m really concerned about the odors. Was it only in certain areas or decks? Or all throughout the ship?
